Bing search engine currently does not send alot of traffic to adult

I just noticed a mainstream site... http://siteanalytics.compete.com/solarenergy.com/

Notice that second SE refer? That site is getting 1/3 of all SE traffic from bing... now go to your site. Maybe it's getting ranked high on Bing... but I bet you aren't receiving that much traffic.

The reason is bing's adult content filter... just another fucked SE. Maybe bingadult.com could do something?

I don't know... just a search engine I find to knock out alot of the bigger paid companies in a search result now have crippled results to adult because of their dumb ass filter.

An adult traffic filter has nothing to do with why they don't send traffic.

They don't send traffic because they don't have any. 1st in google may send 4-5k for a given term and 1st on bing for the same term WON'T even send 200-300 hits. This isn't filtered, or partially displayed, this is 1st spots on both engines.

Bottom line, the traffic is minute in comparison.

no... you are wrong. the link I just posted showed that 12.91% of total traffic comes from bing. I know the site is not completely accurate but there is a degree of truth to it.

That site obviously the keyword is solar energy... 12.91% of ALL traffic is estimated to come from bing. Now that may be 8%... maybe 23% who knows for sure... but I can guarantee you that know site getting hits from free porn would register numbers like that. Register numbers I mean for real or by siteanalytics estimations...

Have you used bing lately? You have to turn off adult filter it seems everytime... that is the reason. And yes... bing is growing quickly bro

Its as simple as that site being ranked well on bing and not as high on google. Or he may rank for a couple keywords on google, and tons on bing. You cant look at a site and say because it has 12% traffic from bing, well you can't say anything. There is more to it then %'s. Link placement in the serp, and the search term are too important of a factor to comment on without knowing the intricacies of the site and which search terms (and placement) the traffic is coming from.

It just depends what search term and which placement he has on them, and which engine they are on.

If he had the same serps on google as he did on bing, he could most likely lose the bing traffic and it not even effect his bottom line more then a few percentile.

Also just for the record, safe search is on at google as well when you first start using it (so that argument for bing isn't valid).

EDIT: Just reread the 'turn off everytime', this isn't the case for me, its stayed off.

does this link come up for you?

http://www.bing.com/settings.aspx?sh...%3dn&FORM=SFRE

mmcfadden 11-03-2009 10:21 PM

If it does... no google filter has an adult setting like that and that is why bing does not give results like it should to adult.

Every site has there claim to fame but the one I used is not very difficult or intricate... it is an example of a mainstream site receiving a large percentage from bing traffic where as adult has never received anything close...

due to...

bing adult filtering process

Those numbers make sense if your keyword is not ranked by yahoo and bing well. Bing seems to resemble yahoo at least from my experience. Do you have 1 main keyword driving traffic, a couple? Were are those keyword(s) on yahoo and bing in relation? Yahoo should be about half of google traffic, give or take, if the position rank was the same.

What I am suggesting is that if your keyword(s) on mainstream was ranked well, i.e top 10 on bing, you would see a significant amount of traffic from it. Now, take that same situation and apply it to an adult site categorized as adult on bing and the percentage would drop off the charts in comparison.
