How to make a an Expires or a Cache-Control header?

I'm reading this is the best way to use static images, but don't understand how to put it into play.

Any help would be appreciated.

here's a piece from my httpd.conf

<ifmodule mod_expires.c>
<filesmatch "\.(jpg|ico|gif)$">
ExpiresActive on
ExpiresDefault "access plus 14 days"
</filesmatch>
</ifmodule>

Is there a reason you chose 14 days? I assume after 14 days, this is when they must re-cache the images?

Thanks! :thumbsup
