Where to stay, what to do in LA???

Hi guys,

I'm staying 3 days in LA in the end of the year, before going to Vegas.

But I'm having a hard time figuring out where to stay and what to do in LA!

Which areas of the city are nice for a tourist to stay (close to the attractions, etc)?

And what are the main tourist spots I should visit???

I know a lot of you guys live in LA, so help me out here!!

Stay in your hotel, order room service and watch hotel porn

bev hills hollywood is a good spot... tons of restaurants, bars, clubs, attractions
santa monica / venice beach - more beach vibe, good shopping

google what to do in LA and you will see all things going on and figure out your interest and plan accordingly

Questions:
Have you been to LA, California, or the US before?
Do you have kids with you?
Where are you staying?

Beverley Hills Hollywood. I've heard that name. Never been there. Could be a good place to stay.

I've been to the US tons of times before. California = only San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. This will be my first trip to LA.

Nope, no kids. Just me and my girl. Where are on our late 20s and early 30s.

We'll be staying 3 days in LA only. No idea on the hotel yet. But I liked The Orlando, in Beverly Hills. We are still searching though.

If you like going out and partying stay at the Standard or Roosevelt in Hollywood.

I would stay near the beach. Santa Monica is on the beach and is close to Malibu, Beverly Hills and Hollywood if you want to venture to those areas.

Don't stay downtown LA.

eat dinner at The Rainbow. You've never had chicken soup, pizza, or any other food that tastes this good before.. and the rocknroll music and low-lit vibe is cool.

otherwise like Dan said...

Also following this topic. We will start in San Francisco and be in Los Angeles for 3 nights before riding to vegas.

Wondering where to stay on new year, San Francisco, Santa Cruz or Monterey

I stayed at the Mondrian and found it close to everything. The Sky bar in the hotel is good for trying to see celebs or used to be. I would say you want to be in Beverly Hills or Hollywood. That is where the tourist/fun stuff is. We did Mr Chow's, was ok. We also did brunch at the Ivy and Beverly Hills Hotel. Kind of fun if you want to see stars.

Sao Paulo has better clubbing. The White Lotus is owned by a guy from our industry who used to post here. Great place. I did not go to LAX but would have liked to. I think the key to LA clubbing is get hooked up with an after hours spot. Otherwise you are home by 2:30 am.

I'm going to stay at Beverly Hills, or West Hollywood for sure. I was thinking about the Beverly Hilton now: http://www.beverlyhilton.com/

I still haven't heard much recommendations about what to do there, though...

I will be going with my girlfriend, if that helps. :P
