Google Phone G1 (T-Mobile )

Anybody ? Im about to get it, hows the battery life? Better then I-Phong?

After Shock Media 11-09-2009 11:23 AM

I am on it now.
Battery is great if you do not have the GPS turned on which does sometimes auto turn on if you load google maps application.
Do not know if the battery is better than the iphone. I do know you can access the battery though and that means you can change it.

i use Nokia E71 and it lasts for 2 days at least with my calls and email checking. GPS, well, i used it once or twice. I saw G1 has an additional bigger battery, may be looks not so nice but would work 3 days I hope.

SO, does it stay for 2 days at least? I mean i check emails sometimes ( no Push usage ), no GPS, 10 -15 minuts phone calls... well, may be Weather check. It all can be done on 2G , no need for 3G usage honestly.

Lasts me 2-3 days typically but I do use push email and other services that you may not use. My gmail constantly updates and so does my calendar.

Not 100% sure I am OK yet - check the thread fungus made for updates. I am sitting in a hospital bed right now waiting on my surgery sometime this afternoon/

It's already a year old and there are better phones on the market, namely the myTouch which is also on T-Mobile.

G1 probably won't run Android 2.0

well I would not call myTouch a better phone cause it doesn't have a keyboard where the G1 does. I picked up the G1 in Sept and I love the phone. The battery life is a problem if you use it all day surfing the net and other apps but it does come with a USB charger so I just plug it in when I'm in my office

There is new Android phones that have just come out that you might also want to check out like the brand new Motorola cliq

Ive had the gphone since they came out...love it.

iPhone 3gs ftw.

I'd rather have more onboard memory than the physical keyboard. The current version of Android barely fits onto the phone...the upcoming version definitely won't fit. That gives the myTouch the advantage, in my opinion. It's also got better battery life, which he said was important.

The Droid is nice, but he mentioned TMobile, so he's gonna be out of luck there.

I love my G1. Does everything I need and I rarely feel the need to carry a laptop anymore.

Ditto to this. I absolutely love my G1 and the keyboard can't be beat. I use my phone primarily for work so I do alot of emailing and texing. Touch screen type pads drive me nuts. The g1 is perfect.

I got raped the first time I took it international. At the time they didn't have a feature that turned the 3G off, but the cupcake update they released took care of that so now so if you take it outside the US you can run it like a normal phone so you don't get screwed.

Learn from my mistakes :2 cents::thumbsup

I love my G1. Battery dies fast if you leave a bunch of stuff running but other than that, it's great xx

well I'd rather have a keyboard as I have large fingers and just find it easier to text and email with a real keyboard..

As I said in my last post t-mobile has the motorola chiq too and I was trying to find the differences between the motorola chiq and motorola droid you talk about. They are a lot alike from this link http://gdgt.com/compare/15640+17253

The Motorola Droid will offer a slide-out QWERTY thumbboard, similar to the recently reviewed Motorola CLIQ. However, while the Motorola CLIQ is powered by Android 1.5, the Motorola Droid will be the first phone to be powered by Android 2.0.
odd that it is Android 1.5 cause my G1 is 1.6 after I updated but maybe it too updates to 1.6.

YUP! I will now go out of my office and watch tv for a few hours or whatever and before I would bring one of my laptops or go back to my office from time to time. With the G1 I can check all my stats and emails and not have to be so attached to my laptops so much.. I love it!

Acer has a 1GHZ android phone too but I don't know much about it

I love my g1. Had it since early February. I have gps turned on, I get email all day long, and I browse the web and use facebook and stuff all day long and the battery lasts the whole day.

If I turn off the gps and only use it for email and voice it lasts for maybe two days.

It's definitely the best phone I've ever had :thumbsup

Has anyone used both the iphone and the g1?

I've used both, but I've never owned an iphone. Iphones, especially the newer ones, are slimmer than the G1s, also they are a bit ahead in the app department but android is catching up pretty fast.

Currently the only Iphone feature I really envy is the bump app. You can "bump" iphones and share contact information, which is pretty cool. It really sucks when people ask you to bump and you can't. I'm sure they will build something similar out very soon but the big question is will you be able to bump iphone to gphone, probably not but that would be awesome.

Sid70 11-10-2009 10:32 AM

honestly, i like its design and keyboard a lot. im even ready to get an extended battery. Iphone is too ghey for me, sorry ( I know, I got Ipod Touch :)
So except G1 i was looking into HTC Hero only.

Raf1 11-10-2009 10:53 AM

I don't but it seems interesting. I'll check it out later

fatfoo 11-10-2009 12:37 PM
