Who has a Dyson vacuum?

is it worth it? is it good?

LeRoy 11-09-2009 05:03 PM

A good friend of mine has one. It's a good one.

Kinda pricey and it made me think of Kirby when I heard the price.

I have the hand held version. Looks like a ray-gun. Works great, my dog is like having a buffalo in the house.

stoner529 11-09-2009 05:05 PM

i dont have a dyson but my woman can suck like a hoover!

candyflip 11-09-2009 05:16 PM

My girl and I have his and hers Dyson vacuums, along with the hand held. My daughter even has a matching kiddie one.

They can't be beat.

ThumbLord 11-09-2009 05:18 PM

the best there is.
Kirby I never liked to be honest

fryer 11-09-2009 05:21 PM

This is the one you want. I have it and consumer reports rates it as the #1 vacuum

Kirby is a pos and a sales scam pretty much

I have a Dyson DC14 ($400), they are fucking awesome.

tiger 11-09-2009 05:37 PM

The one I have is good for sure but I think they are pretty pricey for what they do. Still, no bags, no filters to replace and they are solid and light weigh and pick up much more then regular vacuums.

viki 11-09-2009 05:38 PM

i have a dyson slim (dc18) and i love it. it's light and it manages to get into some very tight spaces without moving things around. it works on all floors so i don't even have to sweep anymore. my mom has a bigger dyson and she loves it too. i would recommend getting whichever model you can find on sale because they're all good. i got mine for $200, 50% off when a store was going out of business.

VikingMan 11-09-2009 05:40 PM

I went out and bought one despite the commercials where the British owner of the company keeps talking about how his vacuum "has more suction" than the competition.:(

onedree 11-09-2009 05:52 PM

We purchased the Dyson D15 upright ball design. It's okay but certainly not for the money. I prefer my Electrolux. I just have to stop impulse-buying!

habibjr 11-09-2009 06:01 PM

kirbys are the best..broguth a 10 years old used kirby for $300. Still working great after 5+ years.

DBS.US 11-09-2009 06:06 PM

Save you money, I love my $50.00 Bagless Devil 088160 Breeze 12 Amp Upright Vacuum.
Simple, light weight and sucks better than Tory Llain :winkwink:

We have the pet model one. It beats the cheapies and buying a new one every year.

Lace 11-09-2009 06:56 PM

Read the reviews online - all I'm going to say. :)

notoldschool 11-09-2009 07:00 PM

had the ball version for years and its worth way more than the asking price. No bag, great handle, and the handle arm and hose are unreal easy to use.

Black Label Scripts 11-09-2009 07:02 PM

I think Area51 has one

Big John 11-09-2009 07:02 PM

Wouldn't be without it. I think my wife would divorce me if we ever got rid of it.

Poppy 11-09-2009 07:13 PM

We have the Animal w/ the ball and love it. 5yr manufacture and parts warranty. We tried 2 others prior to this.

MandyBlake 11-09-2009 07:20 PM

we have the dyson dc24.
its great!

PurrrsianPussyKat 11-09-2009 07:22 PM

I have the dyson dc14. I have 2 persians and a basset hound.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my dyson. I'm always amazed at the amount of filth it sucks up!

AaronM 11-09-2009 07:40 PM

I have a Dyson DC-17 Animal and a Dyson DC31.

The DC31 seems a little weak but the DC-17 is BY FAR the best vacuum I have ever owned. Well worth the money.

FrozenJag 11-09-2009 07:41 PM

I have a dyson animal and it freakin SUCKS!

lol, really though its by far the best vacuum ive ever had. You get what you pay for.

TidalWave 11-09-2009 07:51 PM

Did Dyson do anything good to allow for easy cleaning of hairs wrapped around the brush part?

Furious_Male 11-09-2009 07:53 PM

I have the Dyson animal. I am impressed with it. It gets things most vacuums don't. When the cleaners come to clean my house I make them use the damn thing instead of the POS they bring.

bronco67 11-09-2009 08:11 PM

My cleaning lady was telling me about my next-door neighbor's Dyson vacuum and how great it is, and how she can clean that house faster because it works so well.

I told her to go ahead and buy one.

You joke but I swear to god I overheard this actual conversation by a mean ass old rich lady and her husband at a fancy restaurant once.

Probably one of the most amusing meals I've ever had. In the far end of the restaurant Will Smith had a table and at one point the old lady (her and her husband were long time regulars) called the maitre'd over and asked why they let people like 'that' in.

I know she meant loud, not black; but it was still funny as fuck.

Funny shit how many people here have a dyson.

Grew up with a Kirby but godamm my parents put down some coin.

tigermtb 11-09-2009 11:37 PM

I like my Dyson.
My situation was really like the commercials, tired of vacuums needing to be replaced.
The price is worth it -- its value is in the long run.

ztik 11-09-2009 11:38 PM

Oh also if you want to buy local goto bed bath and beyond and use one of those 20% off coupons you get in the mail

After Shock Media 11-10-2009 12:02 AM

Not sure of all the Dyson love, seems like a mac thread. LOL
Want quality and a reasonable non apple price - Get an Oreck or try one for 30 days like they always let you.

2MuchMark 11-10-2009 12:08 AM

I bought one after reading about it in Wired. It's really good. I forget the model # at the moment but it was one of their more expensive units. Anyway we have cats & carpet and it works really well. Much better than the old Electrolux we used to have. No bag means it's less messy. My GF's alergies have cleared up too since we got it. We're happy.

venus 11-10-2009 12:46 AM

I dont know where you all get your info on Kirby's at, I have had one for about 14 years and its still running strong, never a problem with it. Best I have ever had.

venus 11-10-2009 12:51 AM

DOnt laugh, but I also have the iRobot Roomba, pretty cool little robot vacuum.. and it actually works, they can be pricey, I paid like 400$ for mine.

PersianKitty 11-10-2009 12:58 AM

I have an older D7 in the basement and a D14 on the main floor. D14 recently had a problem and I bought a Riccar Radiance (love it.. it pretty much pulls me across the floor). The D14 did get fixed.. the cleaning lady prefers it, but I like the Riccar.

I also have a Roomba that my son gave me for XMas. It does do too bad for light stuff.

selena 11-10-2009 06:18 AM

I have the yellow ball one, not sure of the model w/out looking it up.

I am very pleased with it, and want the car model.

Scott McD 11-10-2009 08:43 AM

Yup, can't go wrong with a Dyson !!!! :pimp

Sarah_Jayne 11-10-2009 08:48 AM

I couldn't not have one now after all these years. Especially, with dogs, the normal ones just don't pick up as much hair.

I have 2 Roombas and the Scooba and am considering getting their Shop Roomba for the garage and the Verro for my pool. The Scooba doesn't work very well but the Roombas are good in certain rooms. They still don't pull the dog hair up like the Dyson does.

I was spending about $200.00 a year on Hoovers and the like. After 8-9 months I found myself having to take them apart to clean out the dog hair. The hoses were always clogged too. After a couple months of that B.S. it was time to throw it away and buy a new one.

I've had my Dysons for about a year and a half now and couldn't be happier.
