WTF... WIndows Live messenger forces me to upgrade!
It's been nagging me for a couple of weeks about a new version (which I've ignored), today a dialog pops up saying that I can't use messenger until I install the new version...
What's next, Windows complains that it's out of date and forces you to buy an upgrade??? And of course now I've given in and installed the newer version it wants to reboot. I have 46 tasks open, so the answer is "no"... |

I stopped using it about 2 years ago for exactly that reason...

I received that message three weeks ago. Attempted to install the new messenger only to be informed I needed the SP2 upgrade too.
Please do not have Live Messenger in your start-up menu. It constantly updates itself. That hard-drive grind is the ultimate in annoyance! |
MSN is a shit IM, but it's the most used.
|
Why don't you try Digsby? Its free, it handles ICQ, AIM, yahoo IM, MSN im, google talk, and more
|
MSN ? you guys still using MSN ??? lol
|
I've never used it.
|
ICQ does the same

Imagine if the Windows Update system ever got hacked? |
You can keep using an older version of it if you do this. I had to downgrade because the enwest version causes MSN to lock up whenever I try to turn on my webcam, which is the only reason I even use it.

Aim always does this to me and I am on dial up and the 7MB download for each dang update they wanted me to do every week got to be insanity, but lately I havent seen an update demand in over a month. I dont use MSN, and I seen someone suggest Digsby... I had that too and it was pretty cool but I dont like programs that use a massively unnecessary amount of ram and sys resources to run. Thats why I dont run yahoo anymore. ICQ is th stablest for me so far, I love it. Only thing I dont like about it is the fact that it resizes your screens if you dont close it out right LOL
