no you don't need it. you can sometimes get better keyword domains with mobis though.

Can not see a single reason why. Well perhaps you could really SEO that domain for mobile words to not dirty up your .com but you also would be self competing in some ways.

Most, 99%, of my affiliates that promote our mobile stuff whether by getting a white label or galleries or just linking to us do not have or use .mobi domain and they are doing great. A few have .mobi domains, but from what I see the ones that don't are doing better with mobile stuff. So I would have to say that, unless there's a name you really want for a domain and it's not available in .com, but the .mobi is, .mobi isn't going to be better for you when in comes to mobile.
