Make sure you bend over.... no lube is best from what I hear.

d-null 11-12-2009 01:11 AM

if you have more money than time and/or knowledge, then I guess it would make sense

I think of it as more of an essential skill that is part of calling one a "webmaster" :2 cents:

beanamid 11-12-2009 01:25 AM

my 2 cents:
Anyone really good at SEO is making a killing off it, more then they could bill you from helping you out. So my advise, try and fuck up, ask lots of questions and you will figure out what works and what doesn't. there is no fast easy way to do it and paying for SEO is not what I would call a good business choice, better off buying adds from a decent site (always had good luck with joe's traffic)

like I said I could be totally wrong but just my 2 cents

I wasn't seriously considering using anyone, unless there was someone specializing in adult who has a great rep. But as you say, the people who really know how to optimize are probably doing it for their own sites. I have done a lot of research on SEO over the years but it ends up confusing me even more than I was before I knew anything. Absolutely NOTHING that worked three months ago works now. They algorithms change constantly and most SEO experts sit around guessing. The very best SE results I have ever had is from sites I didn't try to optimize or do the latest thing with. I just built them and the spiders came around.

Google analytics is completely useless. It ranks me in positions for certain key phrases and words. I check out the keyword string and I am not in that position. It also lists linkbacks from pages that don't link back. I am beginning to think they just make shit up. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

That's not true, unless you are running a blackhat operation, SEO hasn't changed much in years... :2 cents:

i drank seo had the runs like 30days

Is it worth it as a stand alone product and service though, that's the real question. I'd think most coders and developers have already been doing some form of SEO already just based on information found online or wherever. So you have to weigh the benefits and if it benefits your entire business/marketing plan long term.

SEO should be part of a bigger strategy...smm, branding etc.

If you have never done SEO to your site then I would suggest to

1. do some market research, check the google keyword tool and spyfu to see what your competitors are doing and see what are your best keywords to go after.

2. then create a site with the keywords you found in your research...then put the keyword in the domain and build out a site with H1,H3 tags meta and page content targeting your keyword with spamming..lol

3. last part get one way backlinks to your site with your keyword as the anchor text ;-) and the best way to get one way back links to to setup a directory or link site.

get tarcking on your site for conversions = Google Analytics

Google Keyword Tool

Search Engine Optimization Marketing

:thumbsup
