New 27" iMac + Windows 7 64bit = Ultimate Computing Nirvana (pics)

The new 27" iMac is a sexy piece of kit.

The screen with it's LED back lighting is so crisp it's like having a new set of eyeballs.

Other specs are good and as you can see she does well with the windows system score stuff.

If you are thinking about running this setup - just do it - I couldn't be happier.

Oh - and for you macboys who think it's sacrilege to run windows on it. MacOS has no maximize, so stfu.

I don't normally do this but..
:321GFY

No seriously, it's not just the maximize thing, windows 7 is just the superior operating system. I have heard they run it as the preferred O/S at Cupertino!

Those that want to knock Win 7 - don't knock it 'til you have tried it.

NetHorse 11-15-2009 12:10 AM

Congrats, you spent a shitload of money.

hmm. I would still go with a good solid native unix based OS over any other. But to each their own, I am also on a new imac and i am quite happy with snow leopard. The display is just fucking sick! The clearest, brightest, best monitor, hands down.

RevShare it! 11-15-2009 12:31 AM

That looks realy nice

Mutt 11-15-2009 12:37 AM

hahaha i have an iMac and i think i'm going to do the same thing - install Windows 7. Nothing wrong with the Mac OS but i'm just too used to Windows and never use my iMac because of it.

SleazyDream 11-15-2009 12:41 AM

NewbieNudes 11-15-2009 01:12 AM

Why spend double the money on apple hardware to run windows OS?

Just buy PC parts for half the money if you are going to run windows.

Shoplifter 11-15-2009 01:54 AM

Oh man 5.9 performance rating. You could have had 3x the machine for the price.

I had to put a graphics card in the one I bought but I think these are better machines for the money. Both come with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit installed.

I don't think it's sacrilege, just a bit silly. For two reasons.

a) People spend more than they need to on a Mac SOLELY because they want to run OSX. If you want to run Windows 7 (and I would defend to the death your right to do so), you have just spunked shit loads of money you didn't need to. You could have just bought a nice 27" LED screen and a small form factor PC. Those laptop components in the iMac are more expensive and less reliable than full size parts.

b) http://lifehacker.com/5240827/rightz...e-like-windows there are loads of apps to give you the mazimize button you desire on OSX

Marialovesporn 11-15-2009 07:06 AM

I would like it more when they would offer the screen with no glare option like they have done again on the mac book pro's after lots of complaining from customers. I hate those mirror screens.

If by that you mean to be used as door stoppers or drink tables, then yes he did.

Babaganoosh 11-15-2009 08:26 AM

This thread is too funny. I clicked the thread to post "Have fun installing Windows so you can get some work done" but I see you already know that.

Why did you buy a Mac when you obviously wanted a PC? Is it because it's trendy like Starbucks or didn't you know better?

borked 11-15-2009 09:24 AM

Well, I ordered my 27" i7 a week ago and will receive it in 2 weeks and I can tell you, I will install XP on it under Fusion for the sole reason to check browser compatibility for websites. And nothing else.

Richard Dawkins 11-15-2009 09:52 AM

I have a partition on my iMac that runs Windows 7 and a much larger one for OSX. I am a die hard Mac user, but I will say that Win 7 is the best OS Microsoft has ever released. The Windows partition exists to check compatibility as well as to play a few PC games when the urge hit me (which isn't often).

kmanrox 11-15-2009 10:14 AM

mac has no maximize? jesus.. this whole time i've been wasting the green button then to maximize my shit.... damnit.. i knew i was getting hosed

Installing linux / unix on any fast computer is stupid. It runs fast on whatever so you wouldn't be able to "feel" the performance you paid for :1orglaugh

huh? That's really quite a retarted statement you made...

Just to give a working example though in case you don't see why it is, I have a firewall running SuSE on an old 286 with 64MB RAM (loaded in its day). It runs fine, but I wouldn't want to try and do any graphics work on it.... or anything for that matter that requires processing powa

uno 11-15-2009 01:47 PM

My wife's old mac book pro has been having nothing but problems the past 6+ months. Maybe I'll install win7 32bit, it's my understanding that the 1,1 model is only 32 bit and not 64 capable.

WTF? What a dumbshit, you oblviously have no fucking clue what your talking about, so come over here, sit on my dick and let me school you... JESUS!

The situation a few years back was that Unix/Linux had the more complicated but powerful command line interface while Windows provided a simple but limited command line. How do those wonderful applications open for you so fast and quickly when your computer starts up, genius? Command lines. DOS is a series of scripting directories for an operating system, as is unix. What is a GUI? A graphical user interface is implimented directly by a series of commands and sub syntax command files structures to tell the motherboard how shit should look on a desktop.

The inherent flaw of BIOS and DOS is that having multiple commands for the same basic operation is a bad thing - it means a duplication of the same options under each command plus there will be times when all the options you require aren't available in a single command.

Other inconsistencies found in Windows are the error codes and inconsistent output text. Often standard_output and standard_error are swapped which makes command redirection something of a guessing game. What does this mean? crashes, reboots, system freezes and other shit that sucks.

Wheras a command line from DOS has one of 3 possible outcomes or "solutions", UNIX has 24! UNIX also has the ability to "fallback" 2 directories... viola! the "uncrashable" system. When something quits unexpectedly, the core command paths are intact as you simply restart the application instead of A>) having your system run slow because of the crash or B>) restarting the system because of DOS command lines superceeding each other.

Final Analysis, UNIX is a superior operating system that is rock fucking solid and much more scalable to the user than DOS will ever be. You you know what "scalable" means?!?

Now pretty please, before you say more shit that you have no clue of, will you pretty please think before you post Genius?

Now get the fuck off of my dick and go make daddy a sandwich :321GFY

Yep, but no need to since you can run Windows inside OS X.
