Ads attached to videos doing well -- NYT

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/11/bu..._r=1&ref=media
?It actually works really well,? said Brian Quinn, the vice president and general manager of digital ad sales for The Journal?s digital network. A 15-second pre-roll ?followed by two to five minutes of high-quality content is a fair-value exchange,? Mr. Quinn said.

Analysts say they expect the flow of online advertising dollars to video to continue. The research firm eMarketer projects 35 to 45 percent growth for the segment for each of the next five years, topping out at $5.2 billion in 2014. (Even then, it would hardly rival search advertising, which is projected to be a $16 billion business.)
Coming soon: 15 second penis enlargement or "I got laid through AFF/Fling/etc" ads on legal tube sites :helpme:Oh crap:1orglaugh

For very rare or unique content this may work well. But average run of the mill tube sites I think it will scare off bookmarkers

Don't count on it. Video advertising is growing and growing fast. I give it at most 24 months before you see ads pre-rolling video clips on every major tube site. You already see it frequently on YouTube. I get fucking Flo from progressive insurance pre-rolling constantly on YT lately.

This is the way things are moving, and you have to pay attention to where the trends are leading. The internet is slowly becoming the new television, and a home's computer is turning from just a simple PC to an all around household media center. Mark my word, we are not far from the point where your internet connection will serve as your television feeds, your phone, video chat, and internet. All media and communications will be funneled through one service on one machine. We're already working our ways towards that. Your entire living space will wirelessly network with itself. Mobile devices, appliances, you name it.

As the numbers continue to grow for people watching online video, it only makes sense that you take television style commercials and begin running them on online video... :2 cents:

Or "just educate them" to be "video ad" blind...
