Hi gideon, I await your replies when I get up latter telling us all how it will be back, when it will be back, et. al.

It sounds like they are just going to a different system. So it didn't really shut everything down, it just changed how it is run.

Can someone please explain wtf is going on, I read the article but I'm clueless about most of the stuff mentioned in it. Magneto links wtf I have no idea, are they going to fuck us even harder now?

They are changing to a a large ad-hoc network of peers, that pass on information requests about torrents without a central server, meaning no control or single point of failure. No information about the contents or even the names of torrents are passed around, they say... this makes it legal and hard to shut down.

It's the next generation of torrent technology.

This is what it is

The magnet: URI scheme is a draft open standard defining a URI scheme for magnet links, which are mainly used to reference resources available for download via peer-to-peer networks. Such a link typically identifies a file not by location or name, but by content; more precisely, by the content's hash value.

Since it refers to a file based on content or metadata, rather than by location, a magnet link can be considered a kind of Uniform Resource Name, rather than the more common Uniform Resource Locators. Although it could be used for other applications, it is particularly useful in a peer-to-peer context, because it allows resources to be referenced without the need for a continuously available host.

As much as everyone here likes to rag on him. The guy knows what he's talking about and regardless of whether you want to admit it or not, he's usually dead on with the info he puts out there.

Yeah right, and I'm the Queen of Poland. I like everyone but GideonGallery is a dousche.

Don't worry, they're just time shifting their servers.

He can be a douche. I won't debate that at all. But just because he's a douche doesn't mean he's wrong.

Nautilus 11-17-2009 10:16 AM

The damn thieves are getting annoying. The damn thing was supposed to die after the court ruling, yet it is alive and kicking and only finds more ways to steal copyrighted content and get away with it.

Copyright laws are becoming a joke. You cannot do shit without gazillion of leeches swarming you and immediatly start drinking your blood.

I never said he was wrong about the copyright laws. I looked into them and as much as it upset me. It is mostly how he spoke. He just is too arrogant in the way h betrays it.

I assume he just feels he needs to be that way because everyone here just wants to hear what they want to hear...not the actual truth.

It's more of a "don't shoot the messenger" type of thing. He's obnoxious in how he goes about things, but I'm sure we'd all be the same way if we were talking to a wall (gfy, in this instance).

:winkwink:
