large tube owners, how do you host?
I made a tube site on STP. SmartTubePro from smartscripts.com
Main page and admin script is hosted on a dual xeon 4gb ram. Encoding, .flv videos and thumbs are on remote servers. I tried testing the server and turned on feeder so the site was receiving around 13k hits per hour. The apache was killing the server, loads over 300. Is dual xeon with 4gb ram not enough for a 300k website (php/html files and some site graphics) with encoding, streaming and thumbs hosted remotely? Just wondering which server should i get or if this one can be tweaked. Thanks |

You're doing it all wrong. Your tube needs to scrape the other tubes and use their bandwidth

is this an unmanaged server your trying to configure yourself ?
just the script no encoding or media on it i would think you should be able to do 20k an hour easy. |

ive had a few people hit me up to sell me their "tube scrapper." great idea, but in reality its only worth it for about a week until they catch your server pulling videos from their site :1orglaugh |

300k is a lot for one server and only 4gb ram? 300k you must be pushing some big bandwidth. Split it on 2 or 3 servers and get at least 8 gigs of ram.

just look to see who's included in the lawsuits!

It sounds like your server admin is not the greatest at server optimization. Throwing more hardware at an issue is the easy way out but not always the best solution.:2 cents::2 cents:

you can't compare STP tube and regular TGP/MGP, server running STP is basically application server which needs to have plenty of resources, also regular xeons based on NetBurst architecture are obsolete nowadays (they were great back in 2002 - 2004) |
