My Logitech Z-5500 SPEAKERS are fucked. Recommendations for new kit pls.

The amp / controller is shot, keeps powering out, loose cable / dry fault kind of deal. I'm sick of the sudden massive jolt of noise, scares the beejeebus out of me.

What's good? Anything other than Logitech recommendations pls. Budget around $500. Never buying their shit again.

I listen to music around 12 hours a day while working and want something good. Surround sound a must.

Altec has been selling the same sub+2 set for the past 5 years and they sound fucking awesome... In Canada you can get them for 80 bucks. Americans can probly find them for $50. Best setup I ever had. Got my eye on another but there is really no need. These give out more than enough.

I am after 4 R / L speakers, plus a central one, and a subwoofer. My home office is big and a shitty little setup isn't the go.

$500 budget, not $50.

Brabuster 11-22-2009 12:38 AM

Hold on man... 500 bucks ?!?
What are you talking about ? A home stereo or computer stereo ?

Brabuster 11-22-2009 12:44 AM

Just go to best-buy or something. I highly doubt you will spend half that.
Why do you need all those speakers for your computer ? That's how you got into this mess.... My system sounds great dude. Sounds truly boss. 500 for a computer stereo is way too much. That's probably the best they have so just go to the store. Go with Altec if you can. Wish I had 500 to spare for a compuetr stearo now too... : (

CunningStunt 11-22-2009 12:52 AM

If you listen to lots of music while you work, every day, you will know what I mean. I'm not after some tinny little crappy speakers for $100.

Lonny 11-22-2009 12:54 AM

You may want to check out the following below. Their not exactly what your looking for but their up their in sound and dont cost cheap. Plus they have custom colors to match your desk.
Audiobyte Computer Speakers
EP125 v2 Subwoofer

Brabuster 11-22-2009 12:57 AM

Oh man come on ! You can get a pretty fucking good system for what you are paying. I have no doubt that you will get what ever you want for that price... Like I said. Just go to the store. Fuck sakes. I can get a very decent Marshall amp for my guitar for that. And that's not junk. I'm talking wake up the whole neighborhood shit.

rowan 11-22-2009 01:02 AM

I had problems with my logitech speakers too, I'd have to rotate the input and 2 speaker plugs sometimes in order to make a good connection. Electrical contact/lubricant spray didn't seem to help, so eventually I gave up. Total crap and a waste of money. I ended up spending $50 on a TDK 2.1 package which sounds decent.

Brabuster 11-22-2009 01:09 AM

That TDK system is not bad either. The GF has some shit made by them and it sounds pretty good. Not as good as my Altec Lansing but good. I don't know how big his place is but I don't see this costing more than 200. If you need more than that, then I say you are a mad man !!! Luv it, but you are a mad man !

Please don't post anymore in this thread. I understand you are happy with $80 speakers. Mine were a RRP of AUD$800 when I bought them 4 years ago.

These days $400 should buy something equivalent, I just don't know what it is, hence asking for recommendations. Visiting a store where they can't hook up 4 different test rigs is a waste of time.

Brabuster 11-22-2009 01:23 AM

I didn't say that my system was the best ! I said that my system is pretty good.
Go waste your money on junk again and stop asking stupid questions since you already know so much !

The "junk" lasted 4 years, and has been excellent up until recently.

If you seriously think a 2 speaker setup is ok to listen to music day in day out, then good luck to you. :1orglaugh

Buddy you take your music way to serious.
You come on here asking for help and then you know everything.
It's clear that you don't know shit. Go waste your money and stop replying to my replies.

Fuck off already no name. I take everything I like seriously, business, music, computers, friends, the lot.

If you're a cheap fuck who likes cheap fuck kit, then that's cool.

People who work full time on the web and have decent kit know WTF I am talking about.

This guy is like a big fucking child. Go wipe your nose.
I can picture you right now in front of the TV with your X Box, and a bag of cookies with a crusty rim around your mouth shouting profanities at the game because you can't win. That's what my kids do.

Good luck with that "Kit" there young feller....

TehKinkyHotness 11-22-2009 12:26 PM

Lulz at the back and forth banter. I said F the "kits" when I wanted some decent sound.

I ended up with:
Yamaha 7.1 receiver
2 Yamaha 5 1/4 bookshelfs
12" Sony sub

Simply hooked up via PCs optical audio out. Looks like you would like 4 speakers + sub so just get an extra set of book shelfs.

After hearing this, I will never buy another "kit" either. Not saying I have top of the line, because I don't but what I have will blow those BS kits out of the water, including those over priced shit sounding Klipsch sets.

What ever are you talking about there big man ?
The Bose are a 3 piece set. Just like what I have.
How could you live with yourself by only having 3 speakers ? You need 3 more in order to be a real man.... keep looking big feller.

pstation 11-22-2009 04:32 PM

I'd buy another set of z-5500's personally. you wont find anything better in that price range. I can guarantee you that.

aroy3719 11-22-2009 04:39 PM
