just figured out this mystery i had for 20 years

i was a huge steven king fan for many years, loved all his early work, then i remember at or around the dark half (1989) all his work after that went to all hell and i couldnt get into much of his work after that

then i happened to be browsing wikipedia and saw this, that must have been it. 75% of the music i loved during the 90s was written when the artist was fucked up

Confronting addiction
Shortly after The Tommyknockers publication in 1987, King's family and friends staged an intervention, dumping evidence of his addiction taken from the trash including beer cans, cigarette butts, grams of cocaine, Xanax, Valium, NyQuil, dextromethorphan (cough medicine) and marijuana, on the rug in front of him. As King related in his memoir, he then sought help and quit all forms of drugs and alcohol in the late 1980s, and has remained sober since.[5]

yeah, creative talent that isn't high on prescribed meds or drugs, tends to be a lot less creative.

So much for being a huge fan... :1orglaugh

I own all his books and I have seen ZERO evidence that is sobriety has changed anything. As a matter of fact one of my favorites is one of his newer releases.

In my opinion he has yet to write something that I did not enjoy. I will be picking up his new book very soon.

If you were that big a fan you'd know it was Stephen King. :2 cents:

(sorry, its a pet peeve)

I read some of Stephen King's work,
Green Mile and Everything's Eventual,
and other works.
I must be some kind of dork.

I read Stephen King's interview and he said he did a lot of hard drugs,
What a guy - has he ever seen huge fake juggs?
That's irrelevant. This writing is obscene. But, I know Stephen King is not against obscenities.
