Seriously do you have the same on MAC?
 

Almost everyday my laptop ( vista based ) downloads numerous updates, wtf? Mac users, do you have the same?

about once a week you get stuff usually non essential updates, once a month for security or OS updates on macs.

Thats why I always liked Linux (I have CentOS on my laptop). I turned on automatic updates, but it does not annoy. And no updates require reboot, so I don't have to reboot my pc every time it installs an update (like windows does). And no viruses at all, of course.
