I'd say that's an unfair and unqualified statement. The spectrum of nominations and past winners is extremely broad.

As for the web presence of nominations, there are some there but historically the AVN Awards have been and are more about movies/videos and the corresponding actors/actresses and scenes in those movies and videos.

What do you base that statement on, Duke? Please tell me. Internext is full steam ahead. (There might be one small booth remaining) AVN magazine is doing great since the condensed version came to being, and the new Chatsworth offices are way better than the old ones.

As for the awards, if you look at the nominations, by and large it is wide open. Of course there are some advertisers in there, however nominations are based on merit.

I don't know but I'd speculate there are too many to mention.

Bear in mind that AVN magazine is the main trade magazine for the entire adult industry. People are going to run ads, yeah?

I speculate there are not too many, but the burden of proof is on you, since you think the awards are infallible.

i understand avn is a trade mag and ppl run ads, but when only advertisers win, it makes you wonder how true the awards are, even more so when the people who run the most ads win the most awards.

Oh come on - do you honestly think this whole award stuff is a democratic or independent process? Have you seen a voting system put in place that is transparent to not allow rigging? Have you seen any sort of non-AVN voting system and decision process that has made you come to the conclusion it isn't an advertiser-based mileage reward scheme?

How does Janie Summers get nominated for New Starlet when she only just recently signed with Digital Playground and has nothing out yet? She's not even pictured on their website's header last I checked. She started in 2009 known as Heather Starlet. After the AEE convention this year, her family staged an intervention and she soon found God. So she starts in 2009 as Heather Starlet. Leaves after the AEE convention (January). Signs with Digital Playground in September who are known to buy awards with their deep pockets. Explain that!!

This is also the same company who made this girl change her name to Janie Summers though there was a well known 80's porn star named Jamie Summers. If I knew that bit of history, don't tell me that DP didn't know. The AVN Awards is just plain old fuckery all around. Grease Fishbein's hands in one way or another and you'll get nominated, win an award, OR EVEN get picked to host the show when you have no business hosting anything.
