Guy dies in cave, anyone follow this story?

Been following this story, sad and stupid. I could never imagine doing something like this for fun.

"The 6-foot-tall, 190-pound Jones got stuck with his head at an angle below his feet about 9 p.m. Tuesday in an L-shaped area of the cave known as "Bob's Push." The area is only about 18 inches wide and 10 inches high"

Latest news, just gets weirder.

SPANISH FORK, Utah ? "The Utah cave where a 26-year-old medical student died earlier in the week will be closed permanently and his body will not be removed.
State and county officials made the announcement Friday afternoon, saying it was simply too dangerous to try to recover John Jones' body.
Jones died late Wednesday about 28 hours after getting wedged into a tight, unmapped passage of Nutty Putty Cave.
State officials plan to meet Monday to discuss the best way to permanently close the cave"

.

So much for determining the cause of death.

Pretty fucking stupid to close the cave over this.

How many times have they closed mountains after a climber has died?

And what about the people who tried to save him? They were risking their lives too. Dumbass way to get yourself killed.

That's not the point. Closing a mountain is just as stupid as closing a cave. If they cave was known for cave ins or something that's one thing...We are talking about ONE person dying. Could have happened at a cross walk.

L-Pink 11-27-2009 07:31 PM

Maybe the only way to get him out is a piece at a time ... so they are leaving him and sealing off the property.

Man dies because his head got stuck in a cave - that's terrible and tragic. If it happened in Family Guy it could me comedic, perhaps to some extent.

I would just chop his head off, then retrieve it after the rest of the torso was out of the way.

The medical student who died in a Utah cave was the third spelunker in recent years to get stuck in the same tiny crevice but the only one to die
Apparently this is an ongoing issue.

woj 11-27-2009 08:09 PM

that's a terrible way to die, being stuck in a cave doesn't sound fun at all :(

Ace_luffy 11-27-2009 08:20 PM

Not as tragic as dying in the "Nutty Putty Caves".

he should have listened to the old saying,

"if you don't want end to end up bloody, don't stick your head in nutty putty."
