When you were a newbie.......Where did you

Start out?

Where did you gain info, by asking questions? did someone teach you...did you read alot...was it a rescource for amateurs?

What got you up and running?

Loch 11-28-2009 04:34 PM

started in 2000, you could be dumb as dirt back then and still make huge cash

CyberHustler 11-28-2009 04:34 PM

I bought a domain, some cheap hosting, and your mom a web cam. The rest is history.

My friend told me some things and some things I read at the boards (like gfy, ggaj etc) ...but to tell the truth the most of the most important and crucial things I've learned from my own research and practice.

Yngwie 11-28-2009 04:43 PM

I started in 1997 and just learned everything on my own. I didn't go to any boards till 2003. Resource sites and shit like that is where I got any info.

WiredGuy 11-28-2009 04:46 PM

Trial and error and doing my homework. Research, try, fail, and keep repeating until you figure out what works.

First place I remember beyond Mirc was Toms Newbie Booster though by that time I was not really a newbie.

Trial, error, and GFY.

baddog 11-28-2009 05:54 PM

It's a long story.

NaughtyRob 11-28-2009 07:20 PM

I worked as a webmaster for an adult production company in 2001 and from there started www.modelgig.com beginning of 2002 then learned it was much more fun and way less stressful to shoot content and build sites.

Spunky 11-28-2009 08:59 PM

I built sites on MSN and Yahoo and moved on from there.this was like in 98

alias 11-28-2009 09:00 PM

Design for adult, then adult.

I started in 99 and didn't come across this site till 2003, made a name but didn't start reading or posting here till almost 2005. I didn't know very many people, almost all of which lived local. No one helped me or taught me anything.

Something it seems I still do more often than not even today. Trial and error, try something, doesn't work try again, tweak, try again, etc.... perseverance is most definitely needed if you want to be successful.

Veljko 11-28-2009 09:21 PM

Didnt ask to much question, just read a lot, I mean A LOT!!! ;)

marketsmart 11-28-2009 09:29 PM

i could have been a billionaire by now (well maybe not, but at least worth a 8 figures) if i would have asked more questions and listened to more answers.

the main thing o have learned over the last 10 years is that even if you think you know more than the guy you are talking to, act like you dont know shit..

because 99 out of 100 times he knows something you dont and is more willing to share with someone he doesnt feel is a competitor.

keep your mouth shut, ask a lot of questions to a lot of different people and you will learn more in the next year than you have learned in the last 10...

thats the best advice you will get this year..

heres the next best piece of advice..

dont be afraid to hit up total strangers and ask them questions.. whether offline or online..

you would be surprised at how many people are willing to talk to people that are willing to ask..

So true, it is the "know it alls" that think they know everything and never ask for help or listen to others that really don't know much of anything. I ask people questions all the time still.

BobG 11-28-2009 09:38 PM

I picked up a lot of momentum after attending my first few webmaster conventions.

GAMEFINEST 11-28-2009 09:44 PM

Same here.

A lot of trial and error and tracking. But I do remember researching for weeks on end, hours a day on various sites and message boards. Back then, they were much more helpful.

TheSenator 11-28-2009 09:52 PM

Trial and errors....lots of errors.....

My cock was my main content on AdultCheck..

fatfoo 11-28-2009 10:05 PM

It was a dude on icq that I talked to a lot. I got his icq # from a webmaster page on a TGP. I must say 99% of my success I owe to icq conversations and not gfy at all.

Stile's ego did it for me. I followed Stile & orsm & eventually wanted my own E/N website. So I built one and slang some porn on it.

CFUS was the E/N hub of the internet, so naturally that is where I made my webmaster resource start.

HandballJim 11-29-2009 12:54 AM

Almost 2 years ago, I first started out trying to be a domainer, and then saw a website for sale on Ebay for $300..."start your own adult business", I bid on it...and it turned out to be an AEBN theater that is free when you sign up as an affiliate. So he got me for $300, plus I had a lot of adult domains planning to resell, I instead started to use them. I found an adult forum, then I found GFY, and learning a lot everyday.

Instead of starting a popular Handball website in 2001 I wish I would have made an adult website instead. It never even crossed my mind surfing tommy-bookmarks for porn.

Will you please not disclose such information in public.
That has been my thing, especially at shows for the last 12 plus years.

Two months ago a guy called Wnet gave me $20 worth of writing. Now I'm working in adult full time after ACW snapped me up.

DebsDeep 11-29-2009 03:41 AM

For us I remember clearly. I was surfing the web and saw an ifriends banner...I said hmmm....

Bored 11-29-2009 03:48 AM

I'm still a fucking noob... go figure

been sending sales to friends amateur paysite, then he asked why am i not reselling him and why am i only sending him free sales? so i started reselling him, made some money, then started registering at other sponsors and starting building own network. i have never read anything what was written about adult, maybe some basics about seo, but i will never read what other people wrote about making money, it is very useless as its old not working or fake info ... :)

I got fucked over... bought a copy of dreamweaver for dummies and started there. Spent a week taping and taking pictures, and building the first rendition of the site and launched in the day a feature set of us went live on another popular site. (with a link back to me) Had 35 members the very first day.
