Any one develop non PHP/MySQL app in adult ?

We have been a C#/ASP.NET shop for all most 10 years but since every one wants the app in PHP we started to port our core VOD app to PHP now. I wish I ported to Ruby but every one wants it in PHP

I develop in ASP.NET (C#) because that's what I've always developed in (before I started adult). PHP is a much easier language to get up and running with and oftentimes, people with little programming experience can make necessary code changes to get things to work. So of course it's going to be popular--especially in adult.

The average webmaster and even program owner doesn't want to be bothered with event handling, page life cycle, delegates, and so on, also throw into the mix that "Microsoft is evil".

Porting to Ruby would be fun but you're going to cast a far larger net with PHP. If I was going to develop something for mass public use, I would definitely go with LAMP rather than .NET for that very same reason.

Without the LAMP platform, the average middle class webmaster wouldn't even exist :2 cents:

It's free to develop asp.net applications using the Express editions which have been around since 2005.

Good job at developing in ASP.NET, cyco_cc.

Show me a windows box that can handle the traffic that a *nix box can handle and I will show you this unicorn that I keep in my closet.

That is the same old argument that windows developers always use... the answer is that any speed savings you may have gained will be eaten up by hardware investments... not to mention the fact that once you have developed your own framework(s) for those types of applications you can definitely build apps fast with php.

When you are developing biz apps where 5 people or 10 people are going to use, who cars about server speed, need speed, buy hardware.

Any way both products have their market. Microsoft has done a very good job of building a solid framework (NET 4.0) , its one single platform where the OS, Tools, Database, Framework etc etc comes from one single vendor.
