scott, didn't you have chest pains not too long ago?

you were advised then to go to the ER or the doctor and find out what's going on with your heart or your digestive tract....

go.

i said it last time. i'm saying it again.

best to be embarrassed with a gas pocket than dead from a coronary.

JamesK 11-30-2009 09:35 AM

While it's probably nothing serious, the combination of chest pain and shortness of breath could also be pointing towards heart failure, caused by something like valvular stenosis or myocardia.

So your GF and dad are right - go visit the ER right away.

BFT3K 11-30-2009 09:37 AM

You should go, just to be safe, but I hope you have insurance.

I know a girl who went to the ER with chest pains, thinking it may be a heart attack.

Many tests later it turned out she was fine.

Total Cost: Over $20,000!!!!

Best of luck man. I hope you are okay.

quiet 11-30-2009 09:44 AM

could be a hundred things, panic attack, heart issue, indigestion, the list goes on. everyone hates going to the hospital, but you have to just suck it up and do it. back when i used to get panic attacks, it was exactly as you discribed. dizzy, short of breath, pain in the chest. they'll do an ekg and you will know what's up.

Any fainting recently?

NBBCash Matze 11-30-2009 09:46 AM

it's better to go to the hospital instead of waiting until it could get worse. If it's not serious you just lost you a few hours but you know it's all ok then. Hope you get well soon!:)

tranza 11-30-2009 09:46 AM

You really should go..

Scott,

Don't drive yourself. Call an ambulance. they are equipped to run basic diagnostic on you and when they transfer you to the hospital you will be seen much quicker. You will have at least 1 hour quicker response time from the doctor.

Good luck buddy, get well soon.

Tom_PM 11-30-2009 09:51 AM

Good for you for going. They're going to take a tiny bit of blood and come tell you like 5 minutes later that you did or did not have a heart attack(s).

although health care is free, ambulances are not, and i have no health care for that - and the better hospital is an hour away...

i'll let me dad drive me. i can wait, if i'm there no worries

sextoyking 11-30-2009 10:06 AM

Goto the ER ASAP.

Don't mean to sound like an ass but are you some attention whore or what??

Who in there right mind would post when having chest pains or shortness of breath....

junction 11-30-2009 10:07 AM

The #1 sign and symptom of a heart attack is DENIAL.

Lol, your civilized country has a 5 hour wait ready for you at the ER, good luck with that.

Tom_PM 11-30-2009 10:11 AM

No, if you take an ambulance (about $600 out of pocket FYI) you get in instantly, the nurses will be all over you within moments. If your heart skips ONE beat, they'll run in and check on you. Zero wait time.
Just based on my own experience, your experience may vary.

not for heart issues. i agree it's not the best solution (our system), but you come in complaining of heart/chest pain and you will get bumped to the front every time.

they take one incident and say it's the everywhere like that.

Farang 11-30-2009 01:05 PM

I had the same symptoms last night... Best of luck.

Les Grossman 11-30-2009 01:39 PM

My chest hurts, I need to go the ER, but I'm gonna post on GFY instead.

God damn you're a drama queen.

Try not to tell 100 people about your bankruptcy woes on your way to the hospital. They don't want to hear it.

This is not justification for our fucked up system, nor is it always true that we get in faster.

Brujah 11-30-2009 02:26 PM

No rolling sweats? Probably not a heart attack. Anyone I ever knew that actually had one, experienced that.

don't laugh.

My dad convinced me to goto the main hospital here for cardiac problems as if there was a problem, that's where the best doctors for heart are. We have a local hospital here though but decided to go big.

I got there - and had an EKG and blood pressure test within probally 5 mins or less of checking in. the doctor looked at it within 2 more minuits and told the nurse to tell me I wasn't in any immediate danger but he def needed to talk to me. The nurse said it would be an hour or two.

Here's where it gets fucky. 3 hours later i noticed about 6 ambulances pull in with patients. I ask the desk clerk and she said they were mostly cardiac and she had no idea now how long it would be for me to see the doctor. could be upwards of 10 hours... I left.

I'm going to my doctor tomorrow and getting another EKG and blood test from him.

yesterday when i got home i was really tired and slept from about 8pm till 10am this morning... i feel a little better today but i'm really week. I've always been and felt very physically strong - and i feel week as a kitten. i'm not straining myself today and just basically waiting to go see my doctor tomorrow to see what this is. I'm hoping it's the flu or something but with the shortness of breath, arm pains and some chest pain I can't ignore a possible cardiac problem....

my doctor gave me shit for going to Winnipeg and told me I should have asked him - my bad. He thought I'd was just going to see the nurses here - which would have got my chart and he could have called me that night with the results. He said never go to that hospital unless by ambulance. If by ambulance i'm under his care and things work better. I learned my lesson. He offered to stay after work today and see me (he's a personal friend) but I told him i'd be ok till tomorrow. He stressed just to not exert myself till i know and since i'm actually closer to the hospital here where I live then where I had to park and go to the emergency room in the city I don't feel unsafe....

they said in winnipeg if it was an emergency they would have kept me, but the doctor did want to see me.... I just wasn't going to keep my parents for another 10 hours there - and I didn't feel I had the right to pull any doctor out of an emergency for my problems.

L-Pink 12-01-2009 04:39 PM

Seriously, hope you're ok!
