Really think there's no money in tubes? PornHub.com Daily Revenue Stats.
You guys really think the major "illegal" tube sites as you call them, will be shut down soon? Do you honestly think they are hurting for money so bad that they are operating in a loss? Well, unless their servers cost more than $950,000/mo then you're wrong.
Here's a glimpse into PornHub.com's statistics according to what's publicly available to us. I broke it down for you, based on stats RIGHT NOW. Code:

They definitely have good traffic, some optimization and a/b testing and you will be above board.

I'm not a hypocrite, I'm not gonna sit here and preach against content theft when I am guilty of downloading mainstream movies myself... Sure it sucks, but what am I gonna do about it? Make another thread on GFY bitching and whining about it, but doing nothing about it? Sorry, but when the industry doesn't wanna help itself, who can? Ask Airek. |

Don't forget premium subscriptions and a few videos they have that sponsor paysites...(saw a few of those in and around their site...3-6 min videos with ref-id to the paysite for the full video).
I think it goes without saying that the end-user is always going to seek out better, longer and higher quality content despite having a whole world of content available to them for free. Hell..think about blueray...think about HDTV. People always want more. Present them the option, they will buy it. That's how I see it. Incredible earnings, I can't even imagine. |
Any estimation to what the expense is for a days hosting?
|
I'm not sure about pornhub, specifically, but I know another large tube has a bandwidth bill of $1.25M/mo.

I just thought this morning i miss the old airek... All naysayers or not... its not right and you dont openly suggest it in front of the people that do give a fuck. Since you steal movies... go to their venue and what not and spout off about how you take their shit and suggest others do so... Im beginning to think that you dont fully think about what you say to people before saying... |

31 days at 33k is 1,023,000. (I'm not saying they don't make money at all, just trying to get a better idea on the numbers) |
TJ has the traffic, I'd rather support them than the biggest thief of them all big G.

JK JK! Also those stats above don't count other areas like IM ads, premium memberships, and stuff like that, just the ad spots they are selling. Deej, sorry if I hurt your feelings with a sarcastic comment at the end of my OP, but the fact is, the truth is a bitch. Also, nobody who reads this thread is smart enough to even leave the TGP/MGP game, let alone create an illegal tube and make it even a millionth the success of PornHub or the likes... |
Until you know the bandwidth bill you really have no clue if they are at a loss, breaking even or profitting.

I never said they do not make money. I do not speculate with that financials aside from the issues that they are fucking mine up.
I do have issue with the stealing of peoples shit to profit from. Hell when your primary expense is reduced to 0, and your just paying delivery. It would take a fool to not make some money. Now if they would of just bought the damn content from day 1 and gave it away. I would of had 0 fucking problems with tube sites. In reality nobody would have a valid reason to be pissed at them if they all bought their content. If they did, content providers would be some happy mother fuckers. We would see a whole other sector of the business take off, like what is supposed to happen in business. Typically if a large company takes off making super bucks but their primary need to make those bucks happens to be say hemp. Then of course there is now a big ass demand for hemp and the hemp people also get rich along with the super company. Hemp prices will go down as more people make it. Walla typical business. Instead they are just stealing the primary supply - content. What pisses me off even more is assuming their bandwidth is not too bad. Then the numbers show even more that they could of started off legal and remained legal from day 1. They are just greedy fucks who are fucking us because there is a loophole that allows it. Makes you wonder how long it will take until some whistle blower steps out and fucks a company hard legally or someone gets fed up loosing everything they own to a tube site stealing from them totally cracks and either hunts them down or hires someone to bust a cap in their heads. Lets hope not. |

Edit, I just realized you meant PH as in PornHub and not PH as in PicHunter which is what I'm used to most people referrering too with that. PH obviously reads GFY... Duh. My comment was in general towards the followers and not the leaders. |

Pornhub.com is trippin'. They paid me a lot of money back in 2008 to broker advertising deals for them.

I doubt they are paying much more then $100k/mo for hosting
|
so if i spend 40k per day and make 30k per day i am profitable ?
Those numbers mean very little in terms of "profit" |

Their are published prices of $1.5$/meg even at low 1gig commit. |
Reality is they are making a fortune. They also leave a shitload of money on the table by not doing targeted advertising (signing up for affiliate programs and putting a link to the site that the content actually goes to).
Problem is...when the hammer finally comes down and they get shut down...that's gonna be a LOT of money that suddenly stops coming in. That's when it will hurt real bad. And no matter what anybody says, just because you make a shitload for a couple of years you are NOT happy when the faucet is turned off on you. Having said that...I'd still rather be in their shoes to be making a few million a year and then having it stopped than to have not made it at all. I suppose we will see if it's sooner or later that they get shut down according to what happens with the copyright treaty that all these countries are working on getting signed. I would think that Pornhub and Redtube and the rest will be in a good enough spot at that point to just go full legit in the free area with bought content. When you have 10 million uniques a day, you can pretty much keep on keeping on without the "user upload" option. Just keep a bunch of bought content up there and keep upselling to your "premium" area. Which would just be Brazzers network re-skinned. Yep, they are still gonna be making money hand over fist. But they aren't doing it with MY stuff. And the people who are getting their stuff stolen can stop it whenever they want. Or they can continue to let Brazzers get richer and richer off of their hard work. Whichever. |

paying at least 100k a month in hosting, plus those revenues arent actual sales, would like to see actual paysite sales, not ad space sales
|
Here is just a little food for thought.
These numbers for pornhub are taken from the trafficjunky user/admin section where you buy ads on the site. They tell you how many impressions are available and what the average cpm is. You do the math and you get those numbers. That doesn't mean they are actually selling all of that advertising. If you see the site (and I admit I don't go there much, but the few times I have it seems accurate) they seem to have the same ads up all the time. This would lead a person to believe one of two things. Either these ads convert so well the same buyer is spending tens of thousands a week on advertising. Or they aren't selling all that space and these are just the filler ads. There is no way to know for sure how full those ad spots are and if the rest is filler there is no way of knowing how much they are making off if it. There is no doubt they have a lot of money coming in, but I would venture to guess it is probably less than some of us think. |
even if their bandwidth bills are insaine, and the site eventually gets shut down, with those kind of sales I'm sure rebills are a huge part of their overall profit
