$2-$5 a meg depends on what hardware you need.

from who?

TidalWave 12-02-2009 02:06 AM

a lot of places can do $5 or below now a days.
it will depend on how much BW you are actually using and how much all the server hardware you need costs.

sandman! 12-02-2009 02:24 AM

i can do $4-$5 and know alot of places that can and will it all depends on the hardware you can get $4 + hardware at most places if your buying enough bandwith.

Cheapest qoute I got was 1820$ for 1000mbit dedicated,

Intel Bi Xeon E5530
2x 4x 2x 2.40+ GHz

24 Go DDR3 ECC

2x 1000 Go - SAS

10 gigabit peering to europe for free, al international traffic capped at 1 gigabit.

Unmanaged thought! Just a bare box with a line :-)

(foreign hosted)

RayBonga 12-02-2009 07:15 AM

not sure if prices paid by the really big guys will be disclosed. most people will negotiate rather than get something standart

kinda like asking how much is youtube paying for bandwith?

PowerCum 12-02-2009 07:49 AM

At the moment you can go for $1.500 per gigabit with hardware included. Mixing providers you can go for near $1.000 per gigabit with hardware included

This is all unmanaged.

There are several already doing it :)

SpeakEasy 12-02-2009 09:19 AM

Some of you people are seriously whacked out. When a host starts selling to the end user for 1-2 bucks a meg they are just headed straight for the bankruptcy line. Do you realize even if a host pays that for their BW in Bulk, they have huge comits, data centers, power, support, expensive equipment, and a ton of other expenses. I could go on but it's just not worth it.:2 cents:

I can attest to that. GREAT prices and tremendous service. The few times I've needed anyone there I'm always able to get David or Frank on ICQ and the work tickets are answered within minutes. These guys always bend over backwards to make sure everything is good for me.
