Micro$soft

Could I have a day where I do not have to update ONE of my fucking machines?!?

Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Vista64.

Every fucking day some goddamn critical update.

I for one am glad they continuously update their products, why don't you just schedule the updates for once a week so you are not bothered every day?

I looked for a 'scheduler' but did not come across it. It would be nice to only have to deal with it once a week. I always get their update notice in the middle of something.

It never seems to hit when the computer is idle for hours on end.

In XP > Control Panel > Automatic Updates > Automatically

Just change it to say every Friday at 5PM or something.

Open control panel, Windows Update. On the left side, you should see the option "Change Settings". You are able to set some options including when the updates are downloaded, notifications etc.. (Vista)

The update notices aren't bad, the "restart system" pop ups are a pain though.

Exactly.

Especially when I am in the middle of encoding videos for hours on end.

Thanks for the tip. Both you and Ginger Snaps.

just switch to mac already!
encoding is the same pain, long assed shit but at least it does't force you to upgrade anything.

Nobody wants to waste their time exploiting the security holes in macs, so apple doesn't need to produce any updates. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

90% who don't like windows are morons just like yourself... you don't have to update anything right away

Cyber Fucker 12-04-2009 04:37 PM

I haven't updated os since a while... anti-viruses and fire-walls protect my ass... so far so good so what.. :)

moeloubani 12-04-2009 05:11 PM

If it does happen that you scheduled the update at the wrong time or the computer is telling you it's going to shut down and you still haven't figured out about Google then go to start-->run and type shutdown /a to abort the shutdown then shut down updates in your services and they'll stop coming up until you restart your computer.
