Snails or Foie Gras
Just reading the menu of the place I'm eating tonight and just can't decide which to order for appetizer.
|
the foie gras comes alone? not with something?
Go for the escargot... if thats your kinda thing... |
both!!!!!
yumm |
i used to love both escargot and foie gras, but have pretty much dropped both these days. i suppose i'd go with the snails in a pinch.

Foie Gras with toasted brioche, caramelized apples and pickled grapes.
or Escargot en Croute, garlic, herbs, pernod and butter. |
The only reason I like escargot is because of the awesome juice that usually accompanies it. Take bread and dip. If the foie gras was served with something else it could be great, but I can't just eat foie gras alone.

Foie gras (translated literally from French as "fatty liver" and pronounced 'fwah grah') is produced by cruel and inhumane farming practices. At just a few months old, ducks are confined inside dark sheds and force-fed enormous amounts of food several times a day. A farm worker grabs each duck and, one by one, thrusts a metal pipe down their throats so that a mixture of corn can be forced directly into their gullets. In just a matter of weeks, the ducks become grossly overweight and their livers expand up to 10 times their normal size.
