Maybe the greatest cover song ever.

I went to Youtube looking for Nina Gordon's song Tonight And The Rest Of My Life

And I found this. It is her doing a cover of NWA's Straight Out of Compton.

Here is the song I was looking for btw. They don't have the original video, but this has the song. Very well crafted pop song if you ask me.

I have heard the song "Tonight and the Rest of My Life" before, but did not know who sang it.

Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup

Reminds me somewhat of Kate Bush:

My favorite cover song of all time is Patti Smith doing Bruce Springteen's "Because The Night":

The original as performed by the Boss:

Greatest cover song ever is...

Joni Mitchell's This Flight Tonight as done by Nazareth.

CDSmith 12-13-2009 12:20 PM

2nd greatest (but should be tied for 1st) is Streetheart's cover of the Stones' Under My Thumb

Original vid starts at the 2:22 mark.

Libertine 12-13-2009 12:23 PM

Overload 12-13-2009 04:44 PM

err, i'd vote for Sammy Hagar and his studio version of Janis Js "Piece Of My Heart" or
The Angels performing Steve Marriotts "Natural Born Woman" ... lol, but who not from OZ knows THE ANGELS aka ANGEL CITY nowadays?

SykkBoy 12-13-2009 05:04 PM

Haha these are buddies of mine. I recorded a ton of Demo's in John the lead singers studio.

Their ac/dc stuff is much better. He is funny as fuck.

Check out Poop in a jar, its not them in the video someone did it on their own, but its them singing it on I think Bob and Tom show. :winkwink:

LeCoq 12-13-2009 06:02 PM

Hard to beat this version of Europe's classic:

uno 12-13-2009 06:09 PM

I have always really dug this cover:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xay...a-bottle_music

I actually had them play it at my wedding.

Overload 12-13-2009 06:32 PM

on a sidenote ... how great an original can sound
https://youtube.com/watch?v=TehFZ38kt6o
(has phyl lynott really been the ONLY black vocalist
in a hard rock band ever?!)

and how lousy it sounds commercially "overhauled"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=2ZDhnRo8YvQ

serious, metallica rocked when they were edgy and
young ... but today? commercial crap ... no more
real guitar works as on "kill 'em all" :( :( :(

Keep going... there's an awesome (not) drum fill just before the guitar solo, and the guitar solo itself reminds me of the keyboard player. :1orglaugh

John (the lead singer) is a brilliant marketer. He did great getting a fluke kind of band to get so well known really. lol

KILL_FRENZY 12-14-2009 12:14 PM

HighSociety 12-14-2009 12:21 PM

"am i ever gonna see your face again?" - NO WAY GET FUCKED FUCK OFF :D
the angels is the most brilliant rock band i ever heard and yes, early 80s was
my start with them as well :) i have about everything they released in OZ, EU
and US market ... i think about 25 albums and some EPs ... heck, i even have
a 4 track EP by the brewster bros ... with THEIR AUTOGRAPHS! (a sweetie from
OZ send it to me after visiting a live show of the bros) lucky sob eh? ;) but
what really bugs the hell outta me is, i cannot find this damn print anywhere:
http://theangels.com.au/no-secrets ... it had been released on the EU market,
but with totally different songs; 'cept no secrets ... i wish i cud get my hands
on THAT OZ print :pimp HOWLING with REBACK FEVER :winkwink:
