Wow --- Some Thailand IPs blocking Yahoo, CNN, Facebook, Flickr & others

Other sites getting blocked: drudgereport, ESPN, Photobucket, Twitter

For those of you who don't know, using proxy servers and trying to circumvent government blocked websites is a criminal offense in Thailand.

It seems in some areas it's OK, some its blocked. Nobody knows what is going on yet.

This is crazy.

I count the days until this kind of censorship comes here too. I just know that some right-wing-extremist sites are not available in some parts of this country (and thats ok).
But social network sites?? .. thats really weird.

In Thailand at the moment.

It seems it was an error rather than censorship, or so they are saying right now.

Not sure if you know this or not, but their cyber crime department of the crime suppression unit has been looking into people using vpn and proxy the past few months. They want to put a stop to it. Not sure how they will, but it's on their to-do list.

There is a big difference between using a vpn and using a proxy.

Of course there is, and I use one as well. I'm just saying they are trying to stop people from accessing blocked sites with both of them. They even passed a law about it.
