Karen O Nominated For Grammy
Miley Cyrus disqualified
Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O has received a surprise Grammy nomination after Miley Cyrus was deemed ineligible.
Karen O has had a busy year. Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their third album 'Its Blitz' to widespread acclaim, taking on board electronic influences in the shape of a massive vintage synthesiser collection.
In addition to this the singer worked on the soundtrack to the new Spike Jonze film 'Where The Wild Things Are'. Composing an original score with some all star company, the soundtrack has received warm reviews.
Now Karen O has received a shock nomination for the Grammy awards. The singer's track 'All Is Love' has been given a Grammy nomination for 'Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media' after original nominee Miley Cyrus was deemed ineligible.
A posting on the Interscope Records website confirmed that Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O had been given the nomination, although the blog refused to reveal why Miley Cyrus had been pulled from the list.
"In an unexpected twist, one of the announced Grammy candidates for Best Song Written For A Soundtrack has been disqualified," spokesman Matt LaMotte wrote. "The nomination then goes to the song with the next-highest initial vote count, which is Karen O And The Kids' 'All is Love'."
The change has also been updated on the official Grammy awards website.
Announced earlier this month, the Grammy awards ceremony could well turn out to be a big night for Yeah Yeah Yeahs - the trio are also nominated for 'Best Alternative Music Album'.
