The new ugly way to make money?

In the last couple of days I've been made a member of a number of dating sites I've never visited.

Some of these email address' I hadn't used for ages.

Is this the new way to make money?

One step better than cookie dropping, create free memberships from email listings and hope somebody upgrades :helpme

I remember there was a site that was paying out for signing people up in the same way. They offered something like $0.25 per email signed up and confirmed so you just submitted a massive list and everyone that responded you got paid for.

Obviously you was meant to use an opt in email list but really just opened it up for spam.

Yeah but people needed to respond. What is happening now is much worst...

Good try crackhead it wasn't me. Old email addys he said, not me, he's in Thialand I don't even bother API posting people from third world countries so fuck off troll.

Slappin Fish 12-19-2009 08:53 AM

I am not sure people realize just how much this rips off affiliates.

Your surfers wants to join a site it will say he is already a member and would he like to retrieve his password. Instead of you the webmaster getting a sale, the spammer who never promoted anything but created thousands of free accounts will get the sale. :Oh crap

I never joined Choker's site, but I get the feeling APIs and auto login/confirm urls are the weak link.

Dating sites need to be very carefull with who they let use thier apis. If they do this then the problem is solved and never becomes a problem in the first place.

The fact confirmed free memberships are coming through even on old and unused email addys tells me the problem is already here :2 cents:

Confirmed as in the dating site they apied you too sends you a email saying thanks for confirming your account or they send a email saying please click here to confirm your account?

As in "Somebody checked you out..." the account has already been confirmed.

That does not absolutely mean the account has been confirmed. Some dating sites send these sorta emails out to unconfirmed accounts. If someone is confirming accounts you really need to post the dating site and your user names here. If a affiliate of a dating site is confirming accounts the dating site needs to nuke his account. I don't think any dating site allows affiliates to confirm the accounts they api.

Choker 12-19-2009 09:19 AM

Post the dating site and your account names here anyway, let the dating site check if these are confirmed or not. If a affiliate is doing this he needs to be shitcanned. This sorta shit does fuck it up for all affiliates, this is worse than cookie stuffing.

I am going to contact them direct (so far there is two), not here to encourage anyone to start doing the same shit.

99.9% sure these memberships are confirmed anyway, already asking me if I want to upgrade.

pussyluver 12-19-2009 09:34 AM

cookie dropping or cookie stuffing - suspect a bigger problem than one could imagine!

XD2 12-19-2009 09:36 AM

Without giving the dating site names away. Are they new sites or established ones? Could it be newly set up websites that have bought databases off the Internet or something?

Posting them here and watching the affiliates get shitcanned if they are indeed confirming the accounts will discourage guys from doing this, not encourage them. If this is indeed true that they are confirmed then the dating sites need to take action like right FUCKING now and start monitoring who they allow to api to thier sites. Contacting the dating sites in private won't do a fucking thing. You want this shit to stop, post the dating site and the account names you were signed up with.

Choker 12-19-2009 09:48 AM

From what I understand dating gold does not reserve a email to a affiliate until the account is confirmed. Not sure how other dating sites do this but I need to find out asap. If they reserve a email to a affiliate when a unconfirmed account is created then I will stop promoting that dating site, that's bullshit.

There is an easy way around that.

Sorry but the affiliate who abuses the APIs didn't leave his name...

The Dating sites aren't the guilty party.

The dating sites can tell by your username who the affiliate is. Yes I agree the affiliate is the guilty party but if the dating site doesnt take measures to make sure this doesnt happen then they are letting all their other affiliates get fucked, and should be outed to either do something about this or else.

AK 12-21-2009 10:52 AM

if one of the dating sites you mentioned is DG, I would appreciate if you could contact me directly and I can deal with the affiliate posting this. Thanks

datatank 12-21-2009 11:42 AM

So which dating site will let me post CC members 2million emails to the API and hope some confirm or upgrade?

Naechy 12-21-2009 11:48 AM

It's ready now, just signup here http://bigfreedates.com I am finding out which dating sites reserve a email address with a unconfirmed free account. I will phase those sites out of my system as this is counter productive to what I am doing. A dating site reserving a email addy of a unconfirmed free account is utter bullshit, they are just asking for fraud.

fatfoo 12-21-2009 02:30 PM

Yeah, you sign up emails for legal mail lists.

But you can't spam.

gandalfuy 12-21-2009 04:22 PM

Even using the API, the email should be verifyed by the owner by clicking on the link sent to his inbox.

5 min expiring e-mails shouldnt be used either

Playboy-Deak 12-21-2009 04:25 PM

Interesting info! :pimp

d-null 12-21-2009 07:32 PM
