Insurance bailout going to be approved

I guess instead of not paying for my health care you'll pay $30,000+ a year to house my ass in jail.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Democrats reached a compromise on Saturday with a holdout senator that secured the 60 votes they need to pass a broad healthcare overhaul sought by President Barack Obama.

A marathon negotiating session of nearly 13 hours on Friday clinched an agreement with Senator Ben Nelson ensuring federal funds would not be used to pay for abortions and providing extra Medicaid funds for his home state of Nebraska.

Nelson, a strong abortion rights opponent, had been the elusive 60th vote for Democrats on the sweeping revamp, Obama's top legislative priority and the subject of intense political brawling for months.

"Today is a major step forward for the American people," Obama told reporters at the White House. "After a nearly century-long struggle we are on the cusp of making healthcare reform a reality in the United States of America."

Nelson's backing should secure victory for Democrats in the first of a series of crucial procedural votes scheduled to begin at 1 a.m. (0600 GMT) on Monday and possibly conclude with final passage on Christmas Eve.

A major step remains after the Senate bill passes (assuming it does) and that is to reconcile the Senate bill and House bill and there are major differences between the two bills and I personally do not think that they will be reconciled by the current Congress.

Insurance bailout going to be approved - interesting news. I remember the bailout in 2008 in US. I was working at "World Financial Group" at that time.

They are doing it this way for a reason. When they have bills like this that the public doesn't want they approve it in the Senate first to give the House the green light. The Senators know they are on their way out the door so they are going to pass as much of this bunk as they can before getting tossed. Besides what do they care they get life long pay checks no matter what happens. This just secures their pay checks.

The House bill was passed...the Senate bill has yet to be passed...once the Senate bill is passed the House and Senate bill has to be reconciled into a single bill to present to the President...and I personally do not believe that will be accomplished by the current Congress.

Yeah and lots of people thought they would never pass a bill that only served the insurance companies interest yet look at what we have here. You don't seem to get it. They aren't working for your interest they are working for their own special interests.
