Is there any way to check my credit rating for free?

In the past I used a site that charged $10 to check my credit rating.

Anybody know if I can check my credit rating for free?

L-Pink 12-19-2009 02:23 PM

I'll do it for you, post all your personal information ......

http://www.annualcreditreport.com

That's the actual one from the govt so they won't make you sign up to shit to get it.

You are entitled to one free credit report per year, IIRC. Google it.

But that doesn't include the credit rating. You still have to pay someone to get that.

Pretend your getting a car loan and be friendly to the loan officer.... build up some good rapport and when they are pulling up your credit report, just ask them politely if you couldn't just take a peek at it.. or ask some stupid questions.

Then cancel the paperwork and walk out of the dealership.

Thanks, PornMD. But, I'm looking for a site for Canada. This site looks like it's only for USA.

I think my credit rating is very good, because I payed off many thousands of dollars of debt.

ganjaman 12-19-2009 10:37 PM

So, what you're saying is the dealership would pay $10 or whatever amount to check the credit rating. And then you can walk out.

As someone who's been in the credit industry for 15+ years during my dayjob, here's the scoop. Annualcreditreport.com is the best one for a once a year look at your credit and to make sure all is good. Three credit bureaus exist (Experian, Equifax, Transunion). Your FICO scores are "only" available via myfico.com through an arrangement. Experian doesn't offer FICO scores to the public, only banks and finance companies.

There are tons of monitoring services out there. Just be sure to read the T&C's on each and see what they monitor and for how much.

Hope that helps

Your a fucking dick. You are the guy that dealerships make HUGE profits on, cause you thing you have a clue, but really when it comes down to it, your just a douchebag. If you had a clue how the car biz worked or credit for that matter, you would shit yourself. Great advice you just gave. lol.....jerk off.:2 cents:

Wagerboy 12-19-2009 10:56 PM

ooh and theres NO WHERE ONLINE you can get your true score. only auto and mortgage companies get a TRUE score. Use a free service and subtract 100-150 points, thats usually close to your score. Free reports use a "guess score" and raise it to make you think your credit is higher and needs protecting, thus making them money.

cyco_cc 12-19-2009 11:11 PM

It's true you can do the car dealership thing, but is your time really worth less than the $10 it would cost to run it on your own?

You can estimate your FICO score here: http://www.bankrate.com/calculators/...alculator.aspx I used this before buying my last car and the score that the rep came back with was in this range.

I dunno about a 100-150 point discrepancy. That seems exaggerated and has not been my experience using online reports and getting data from dealerships, when I bought my house, etc. However, I'm sure the auto industry gets a different type of score that has parameters that a "regular" credit score doesn't take into account.

No the dealership has a link straight to every credit bureau. That's how they make financing decisions on the spot. :2 cents:

myfico actually gives you a Fico score that is within 20/30 pts of your score that banks/lenders use. There are 100+ versions of scores within the FICO system and banks subscribe to whatever one they feel assesses risk best.

Generally an auto enhanced score is what dealerships pull and it's a lot higher than what a bank looks at for lending. I've bought auto paper in the past and customers say I have a 750 score when it's a 660 on our end.

ErectMedia 12-20-2009 02:06 AM

I use http://www.truecredit.com/ but I'm in the US, it monitors all 3 for any changes to your reports and gives you all 3 credit scores that you can update once a month, it emails you if any changes happen or if you bust over your credit limit accidentally etc... I took the free trial and have been paying $14.95/month now for over 2 years as my credit use to be not so hot but now it's pretty damn good so I wanna keep it that way, one of their email alerts did actually save my ass once.

BAKO 12-20-2009 02:07 AM

I check my shit on myfico.com its 15 bucks but you gte bunch of details

Phil 12-20-2009 02:20 AM

experian.com

knobish 12-20-2009 02:43 AM

That'd work, but you dont have to ask for a peek. Tell them to give you a copy, cause you're entitled to it. At least it was that way when we ran credit the mortgage company. Youll have 3 scores, go off the middle score. They might be going off the low now, idk.

Your correct, I do not know anything about you. I do know however that you advise to go waste a car dealerships time, money to run credit so you can "peek". They arent going to show you. It varies by state laws, but in NY you can not give a copy of a credit report to a customer. There is one real credit report and only auto lenders and mortage companies get it. The websites you pay for your score give you a guess on your scores. Read the fine print on such websites. Im not a hater, just hate people that would give such retarded advise.

SmokeyTheBear 12-20-2009 11:27 AM

first you sign up for all the free porn memberships you can find, then change your credit card phone number to your credit card companies help line and fleee the country for several years. I can guarantee your credit rating will be rated very shitty when you return.

Vendzilla 12-20-2009 11:53 AM

I have a real esate person, I just call her and she'll get it for me any time I need it

Ah, sorry...I have no idea what to say then, as I'm sure that's probably true for a lot of the credit score sites I'm aware of.
