I make the hat more famous than a Yankee can
At a Yankees game
In the song he did

One of those times when it's a good thing that everyone there was white and had no idea of what he had said, anyway.. Heh

I'd like to say he's just another stupid nog contributing to the delinquency of minors, but I can't. He's brilliant.

It's so nice to see a performance that is not lip synced these days. They did a great job.

Jigga what?!?!

He doesn't use auto tune, either.

I used to like Hip/Hop when I was younger. But it's turned into a bunch of crap. And it's kinda scary how people actually listen to this crap. Not really into listening to ignorant hahahahahahas that are "so hood". It's funny to watch all these kids "keeping it real" WALKING down the street cause there asses are dead broke, and can't afford a car.

I hate A LOT of "new" rap... but than again, I hate A LOT of all new music... it's all so marketed and ridiculously ridiculous, yeap... that bad.

BUT

Jay-z, Alicia Keys, Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, and many others are amazing. Extremely talented ~ you can't hate on this song, it is very original.

MrMaxwell 12-20-2009 09:59 AM

Okay so most rap fucking sucks
And it really does
I'm saying that I can't believe the guy is at a Yankees game saying that he does more for the brand than the actual team

Do you know how many people wear Yankees clothing because of Jay Z? A lot of these people couldn't even name the pitcher for the Yankees let alone watch the game...

Do you know how many people have never even heard of Jay Z? A lot of these people can't even name a single rapper or song but they have been buying NY Yankees clothing for 50 years before Jay Z was a glimmer in his momma's eye.

Some delusional and self-absorbed sumbitches out there thinkin they invented shit...

newsflash...the world existed prior to 1985

zurc-net 12-20-2009 03:38 PM

I find it funny you guys think that he really thinks he is the reason people buy yankee's hats... talk about gullible

I'm not saying he made the Yankees, I'm saying he helped out quite a bit...

MrMaxwell 12-20-2009 05:46 PM

The point is that he had the BALLS TO STAND THERE AND SAY THAT AT A YANKEES GAME

That is the point
Okay

Not debating who made the brand more popular
The Yankees made it a big deal over decades
They're loved, they're hated, bottom line.. they're KNOWN
So to is it impressive if Jay Z has done something significant for it in a short period of time

But the POINT is, who has the guts in them to stand there at a Yankees game saying hey I did more for your team than your team did... It took balls

I like Jay Z and i had no clue he wore yankee stuff. So one of these most followed clubs in the US was helped because this guy wore a yankee's cap? I think his peeps are blowing up his head a bit too much.

Rangermoore 12-20-2009 05:54 PM

Met Jay Z a couple of months ago in LA, Nice guy very humble..I was VERY surprised...

You can't be serious.

Some inner city kids and white wiggers now wear a Yankees cap because of him. It doesn't go any further than that.

Saying Jay-Z is helping the Yankees is like saying Green Day helps the music industry.

DBS.US 12-20-2009 09:46 PM

Rap is just ghetto karaoke :2 cents:

campimp 12-20-2009 09:54 PM

he was not trying to say he was bigger or more important than the yankees

just stating the facts... kids love imitating their favorite artists. the simple fact he wears a yankee hat probably sold more yankee hats last year from people wanting to be like him as opposed to people wanting to be like A-Rod... thats reality

he is not the first, nor will he be the last, hip hop artist to impact fashion

how many people were pimpin adidas before Run DMC hit the scene... they were hugely influencial in adidas being what it is today

how many people were walking around wearing Georgetown jackets before the hip hop artists started to wear them in the 80s. those damn jackets were everyone... i can remember TONS of white suburban kids sporting those things when i was younger

how many white suburban kids went out and bought a Raiders hat simply because of this:

and yes, Jay Z is the man

99 problems and a bitch ain't one

Semi-Retired-Dave 12-20-2009 09:59 PM

Jay-Z has come a long way, he deserves some respect. He has some skills for sure.

only in his own head he believes that, if he was performing somewhere else he would be wearing that town's team hat....its just good marketing. It is well known he made his startup money dealing in NY (so yeah real good for the brand). :upsidedow

spacedog 12-20-2009 10:52 PM

It wasn't the atmosphere in the stadium.. you can tell that it was there even from watching it on video.. He was just off.. Something about the way he accented his words when he was rapping, it was just way off for him(especially compared to the CD version). She saved it, though, and she makes that song, anyway.

And Jay Z did much more for himself in this video, too.
