Is it really that hard to email when you kill a program?

You do make a point, but at the same time...not all those sites/programs are dead from what I can see.

When I start revamping my adult model area next month, I fear that maybe 25 percent of my solo girls will be gone in the wind... Blah!

BFT3K 12-20-2009 11:44 AM

Wow, that's quite a long list.

Sites seem to be dropping like flies.

Roald 12-20-2009 11:47 AM

Awesome, thnx!

PS KellyDivine.com seems to be pretty alive.

Dirty Dane 12-20-2009 11:56 AM

Hi camgirlshide, when you have such big lists of sites and programs it might be a good idea to frequently run bulk check on their domains and signup pages (and programs) to see if they are dead or changed something. It will save you lots of time and effort.

well suggest something to use then. something that would run on your end like an .exe instead of something that runs off a cgi-bin.

Doctor Feelgood 12-20-2009 12:07 PM

or give the topic its own forum like the content theft one. call it "Program and site closures"

camgirlshide 12-20-2009 12:10 PM

It seems in some cases, the site may be up, but the affiliate link I have doesn't work. If you kill off an affiliate link it still gets removed.

The bulk removal scripts can work to a point, but when domains get bought and redirected somewhere else it's hard to detect that with a script. I was thinking of writing something that does a weekly diff of sites and generates me a list. This way, not only can I see which ones are dead, but I can also see which ones are getting updated.

camgirlshide 12-20-2009 12:11 PM

p.s. -- Kelly Divine did seem to be an affiliate link issue. I have fixed the link and taken her off the deleted list.

docputer 12-20-2009 12:30 PM

Jen Madison was gone like 2 years ago, and there were multiple emails in the days leading up to it

Well, thats why I mentioned signup page, because if its redirected then signup page also usually gets an error if you ping it.

First step (for affiliate codes) is to use a stat program. Like Nifty Stats. Then you can check in details if the red/bad/dead shows up.

Then make a database starting from program level to hardlink level, which can also be used for other various things.

Then run a website monitor software from time to time.

Curious, will any of you email the programs you promote when you hang it up this coming year?

Didn't think so.

AZNNC 12-20-2009 01:56 PM

What constitutes dead to you? I tried some of those sites cuz i promote them, sites still seem up even tho I doubt they update with fresh content.

when we closed puredee we emailed affiliates and posted on the boards that it was closing. and the traffic goes to spunkyangels which you still get credit for the signup.

Dead = affiliate link I had doesn't work anymore or redirects to another site.

I consider the ones where the main site works, but my affiliate link doesn't work anymore the worst variety.

AZNNC 12-20-2009 06:16 PM

Sexylette still works than.
I just logged in and its tracking stats.

Why does it matter? The sponsor can run a quick report to find out who's sending traffic and who isn't..... problem with ccbill is dead programs can still be promoted. I've sent traffic to parking pages that are still tracked, unless I actually visit them how do I know the page got changed?

Im a program owner. I certainly do not feel that affiliates need to email myself either telling us they are promoting us or not promoting. However, our company does email its affiliates privately and I like to keep in contact with affiliates as any business should with its sales staff.

And yes camgirlshide, you should be emailed, I think this is bad or rude business! :2 cents:

fatfoo 12-20-2009 09:31 PM

Yeah, they should email - it's not hard.

sexandcash 12-21-2009 01:36 AM

Kelly Divine was promoting her affiliate program a few weeks ago here.....
Are you SURE about that one??????????????????

kellydivine 12-21-2009 01:52 AM

For the Record. I am VERY MUCH SO still around baby. My affiliate get paid weekly and my updates are Regular. So I am not sure where you got your information.

thx

Zorgman 12-21-2009 02:47 AM

TALS (Tracking Adult Links System) is very handy for changing your codes quickly when you find dropped sponsors.
It's free to download, check my sig. :D
