Platinumpimp 12-20-2009 02:53 PM

Wow that should be ice.

Manowar 12-20-2009 03:32 PM

wow, thats pretty awesome, maybe the ground was retaining heat

nextri 12-20-2009 03:36 PM

heated pool perhaps?

andrej_NDC 12-20-2009 03:54 PM

Nope, not heated. The filtration is on(30% of the time), so the water is moving a little, thats the reason, I guess.

There is actually more degrees under the pool covering. And when the sun is shining, it works like a hothouse.

Right, that, too. Even though, last time I put chlorine there was in november or so.

MaDalton 12-20-2009 04:39 PM

wouldnt it be better to let the water out in winter? because if it really turns ice it can damage the pool cause it expands

I didn't expect to be the winter so cold. I still swimm in it from time to time and wanted to keep it that way over the winter. When the temperature isn't going up soon, I will have to let the water out, at least some of it.

DBS.US 12-20-2009 04:44 PM

What is the freezing point of the chlorine ?

raven1083 12-20-2009 04:50 PM

google says -101C, but there isn't much chlorine left in the water...even though there is still some for sure.

$5 submissions 12-20-2009 05:18 PM

The little amount of chlorine should do it since -101C is the freezing point...

ArsewithClass 12-20-2009 09:22 PM

My pool froze over and its only -5 here in the UK. Its not heated at the moment & I added a chlorine shock treatment for winter to stop it going green.

You lucky fucker being able to still swim in it if you wanted!

heymatty 12-20-2009 09:35 PM

Throw some tennis balls in unitl you drain it a bit.

JD 12-21-2009 12:58 AM

Of chlorine yes, not the diluted variety when it's in the pool :winkwink:

It does help, I agree :)

fatfoo 12-21-2009 10:13 AM

Those high defintion pool pics are cool, andrej_NDC.

F-U-Jimmy 12-21-2009 10:20 AM

Its possible that you are getting a small amount of heat from the earth. I believe the frost line is around 4 feet deep in New Hampshire and upstate New York so any pool that is say 6 to 8 feet deep will have some area below that line, Add to that the pool cover which can also hold in a little heat and there you go. I used to have a large pool in my London home and during the winter i would float a number of plastic beach balls on the surface so that if it did freeze it would crush the balls and not the pool.

Some pools should not be emptied as it will cause damage to the liner plaster .:thumbsup

L-Pink 12-21-2009 10:24 AM

Dump in some anti-freeze.
