Heath Care Bill Facts: According To Far Left Progressives
"From what we know about the bill, it is worse than passing nothing."
http://fdlaction.firedoglake.com/200...e-senate-bill/ 1. Forces you to pay up to 8% of your income to private insurance corporations -- whether you want to or not 2. If you refuse to buy the insurance, you'll h...ave to pay penalties of up to 2% of your annual income to the IRS 3. After being forced to pay thousands in premiums for junk insurance, you can still be on the hook for up to $11,900 a year in out-of-pocket medical expenses. 4. Massive restriction on a woman's right to choose, designed to trigger a challenge to Roe v. Wade in the Supreme Court 5. Paid for by taxes on the middle class insurance plan you have right now through your employer, causing them to cut back benefits and increase co-ays 6. Many of the taxes to pay for the bill start now, but most Americans won't see any benefits -- like an end to discrimination against those with preexisting conditions -- until 2014 when the program begins. 7. Allows insurance companies to charge people who are older 300% more than others 8. Grants monopolies to to drug companies that will keep generic versions of expensive biotech drugs from ever coming to market. 9. No reimportation of prescription drugs, which would save consumers $100 billion over 10 years 10. The cost of medical care will continue to rise, and insurance premiums for a family of 4 will rise an average of $1000 a year -- meaning in 10 years, you family's insurance premium will be $10,000 more annually than it is right now. http://rawstory.com/2009/12/firedogl...e-health-bill/ |

I am waiting to see what happens in conference... but I completely concur with their assessment of the Senate bill.
|
What is funny is they are pretty much the exact arguments the right had against the bill.
|
So why is it that in Germany everyone gets free health care and the same can't be done in the USA?

I cannot remember a time in history that such an unpopular minority party ran the country. In essence thats what the repubs have done, they have set the tone, defined the issues and pushed the dems into submission. it is actually pretty impressive if you're willing to overlook the countries problems spaz |

it's mandatory - and it's - relatively - affordable. 90% are automatically insured through their employer who pays 50% of the premium. if you are unemployed the government pays 100%. the other 10% of the people earn enough to opt in for a private insurance which can be cheaper or offers better services i am self employed and therefore also in a private insurance. due to a pre-existing condition i have to pay about $600 per month so - nothing "free" here - but no one needs to worry about paying outrageous bills either edit: and the system is independent from the other taxes - so it does not matter who bombs who how much |
1) Avg American pays more than 8% now... many pay more out of pocket than that a month for pills alone, for an ER visit, or a co-pay.
2) Yep, have a job you pay taxes.. if you don't you get fined.. this is no different. 3) Yeah, 'could'... but it never says you will be, the poster of the article just makes up examples that 'could' happen.. if the perfect storm came about. 4) Haha... they truly will bitch about anything. They gave the States the power to make the choice, how the core of our Country works... and they bitch about it. 5) Well yeah, I expect Companies to scale back coverage... finally a way they can save money and not be anal rapped by the Insurance companies. You can be damn sure Companies are going to take advantage of this. 6) Yeppers, that's normally how it works. 7) They already can and do this... and they already do work together, controlling the monopoly very tightly making it so no Companies can compete. 8) This appears to do exactly what they can now with the drugs, but... it allows them to make modifications to them rather than it cover the blanket drug. They reached really hard on this one. 9) He kind of has a point.... it's not like the FDA has kept us safe on Imports in recent years... but I expect this will change over time. 10) Aye, like it has done from day 1... I don't see why this would be any different. |
The Doc. Ok you have a lot of "they do this now" in your posts.
So where is the reform? And it is a woman, a PROGRESSIVE. Did you think this was a male from the right? :1orglaugh |

Obama said,
"They will no longer be able to place some arbitrary cap on the amount of coverage you can receive in a given year or a lifetime." That sounds like a better thing for the people that get the health care. |

I know it's a woman, no idea why that or her being a progressive makes a difference. They can be right or left, and be an idiot.. |

This isn't a gift to anyone, the Insurance companies already had everything in this bill. And if they didn't spell it out, then people would be going off about that, instead of them spelling it out. Of course it's for profit... what moron business/country would run it at a loss? Other than in America? |
