Colombia is hit and miss, depends on the city. Costa Rica has a huge ex-pat community. Philippines is a 3rd world shit hole.
I've lived in all three and if had to choose one to return to, it would be Costa Rica or Colombia, with Colombia probably winning simply because it's a little rough around the edges in some areas, and I like that. |

From what I've heard about these three places, Costa Rica.. I've known people from the Phillipines, and people who've been to Costa Rica.. I'd definitely be in Costa Rica in a fucking heartbeat if I could afford the move... fuck yeah :thumbsup |
I would choose Costa Rica.

The Bahamas.
|
ive only been to PI and it was a dump... that being said i have monger friends who've been to all these places and while thailand is usually their #1, they said by far columbina is their #2 in terms of a place they'd live if single...
|
Costa Rica! :)
|
Because you've lived in Thailand, you would be disgusted with Costa Rica. There is no comparison.
If you don't want to keep it east and go to the Phillipines, then Colombia will be more what you're looking for. |
Hi
I am from Costa Rica. And it is a great country to live, and because it is a small country everything is near, is you want to go to a mall to buy something you have to drive half hour as much, or if you wanna go to the beach they are a lot of options. If you are in the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose and you wanna go to the beach it will take you 2 hours to get to the beach. The peole is very nice and a lot of people are coming to here to invest and the best is the real state has really low prices. Hope this help you to decide! hehe |
of those i would say costa rica

I've spent a lot of time in Colombia, been all over Philippines and currently reside in Thailand. Don't know much about Costa Rica.
Philippines: At one time I was thinking about moving there. I'm not sure what I was thinking and came to my senses. No disrespect to the guys who do live there, but outside of just a few select areas and natural zones, the places is a shit hole. Great pussy though, those girls love to fuck and speak English. Colombia: If I was not making my money in Thailand, I would currently be living there. Colombia rocks. Thailand: I'm here for the money. However, once the Thai tap runs dry, I'm heading back to Colombia, or if by that time Cuba is open, I may head there. Thailand, I hope, is not a long term solution for me. |

Philippines, but only because I happen to like 3rd world shit holes :(
If I was looking for a country to settle down (even if only a little :winkwink:) it would be Colombia. Love the people there. |
South Africa, no?

Price-wise it's not much cheaper than living in the united states, in fact some things are more expensive. People who moved here 5 years ago to save money are leaving. I've never been to Thailand, but I've compared notes with many people who have, it seems a lot nicer. Maybe the grass is always greener? |

Colombia just has a certain charm about it. I can't put it into words, you just have to see it for yourself. I could write a book on why I love Colombia, but it wouldn't do it justice. You just gotta go and roam about! |
Coasta Rica +1

It totally depends where you are in Colombia...Bogota, the capital, is always a bit chilly because it's altitutde is 2,640 metres. i.e. When I first went, I got a bit of altitude sickness, but maybe I'm a puss. |
I've never been in any but If I had to chose I would chose somehow Coasta Rica.
|
I have been to San Jose costa rica twice and it is not somewhere I would feel safe living. Its ok during the day however at night you have to take cabs everywhere even a 5 minute walk as so many tourists are getting robbed.
|
Coasta Rica !
|
It's COSTA Rica, not coasta.
|
I Live in Colombia right now and it would stay so for a while.
I have visited many countries (Panama, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria) And I have lived in Germany 13 years and in Texas 4 years. Must say all those places are fine but for sure Colombia is one of the places in the world that you must visit. The people are so Friendly and Open, The girls are Beautiful and Easy to approach. Its Cheap to go arround or to Eat and you can have a Blast without spending much. :) |
Bob Costas Rica?
|
I've never been to the other two but Costa Rica is amazing!
|
I've been in love with Panama for a while and have been spending a good chunk of the last couple of years here. For some reason I'm just becoming less and less impressed. Prices of almost everything seem to have gone way up since my first visit in 2007, and maybe it's just me but it just feels too "westernized" these days. Call me crazy but after spending a lot of time here, I almost feel like I'm just in another U.S. state sometimes.
I've got a friend in Colombia telling me the only reason I like Panama is because I haven't been to Colombia yet. Gonna check out Cartagena in a couple of months and will let you know how it is. |

Colombia, was there for about 6 months total- one day we were walking into the center of downtown bogota and saw two dead guys lying in a huge pool of blood in the driveway of a gas station. drug cartel hit. a bunch of 8 - 10 year old school kids were all standing around giggling and pointing at the bodies. pretty creepy. bogota is too freaking huge for me, over 9 million people just way too much for my liking. And the humanitarian crisis from the idiotic drug war (financed by u.s.) has made for countless thousands of refugees. check out amnesty international's write up on colombia's human rights situation...
although i gotta say i really loved the colombian amazon. Leticia, Mocoa and a little further north, San Agustin...incredible. small town in a beautiful valley and they have these insanely precise stone statues and ruins of a mysterious nameless civilization which vanished before the spaniards got there. |
Costa Rica, definitely.
I've traveled to Colombia extensively and although it's a beautiful country, I wouldn't recommend living there because of the drug situation. |

Why does someone always have to mention Death people when talking about Colombia ? Like there were not killings, or drive by shootings or murderers in other countries. Dont you look at news where you live ? ......... Some are even mentioning Pablo Escobar after 20 years. Fuck Amnesty international why dont they writte about positive things and how the country has changed, and how the guerrilla has been almost exterminated, and how the country is living its peak point in last 60 years. |
