Being sick for the Holidays sucks..

I haven't been major sick in years.. get a flu shot every year (got the H1N1 vaccine too)...

About a week ago it started with just a sore throat, I attributed to the low humidity due to cold weather. I set up humidifiers in the house, upped my B12 and Vitamin C, and figured I'd be good to go. After a miserable week getting progressively worse I finally broke down and went to the doc yesterday..

walking pneumonia, asthma brought on bronchial irritation and sinusitis. I'm on an ceftin, prednisone, OTC cough medicines along with vicodin (doc says taking vicodin works better than cough medicine with codeine), OTC meds for my stuffed up nose, and an inhaler. I guess I've been throwing PVCs like crazy too (he did an EKG along with the chest xray) which explains why sometimes I really tight and fluttery in my chest.

Now all I can do is hope some of these meds have helped by Thursday night. I've got all the present bought, but I haven't had the energy to wrap a dang thing.

Don't even bother wrapping the gifts....I sure don't....The only wrapping the gifts that I buy gets is the shopping bag....I'm sure your people will understand.

i'm sick too. know the feeling. hope you get better soon

Jay 12-23-2009 05:17 PM

Wow, sorry to hear PK, hope you get well soon. My wife has had walking pneumonia twice this year. She just got over her second bout with it. Make sure you get lots of rest in addition to the meds, last time my wife had one foot in the door to the ER.

Also, once you get walking pneumonia, you're more susceptible to get it again ...:(

receipe to get better fast, start taking vitamin C now about 500 mg. evert hour or 2 and drink a lot of water, also start taking Zinc and Echinacea/Goldenseal (the recommended doses) right away, supports immune system health.

Prevention is the key, this winter been taking 2,000-10,000 mg. of vitimen C a day, washing hands often if in public places, and hand sanitizer.

after looking at your post again, yes you are way beyond vitamin C....walking pneumonia = antibiotics, I had this twice...one time I ended up in the hospital for several days the other time had to stay home from work for almost 2 weeks. You shoud feel better soon after getting the meds in you.

feel betta Kitty

Honez 12-24-2009 10:45 AM

Damn woman :( I hope the meds get you better real quick. Don't forget to drink lots of water! As for wrapping the gifts, I agree on the giftbag idea. My mom broke her arm for Christmas so we all got gifts in gift bags. Didn't bother anyone one bit.
