>> How oldschool internet porn ARE YOU?

Yeah fuckers this is a poll. I'm feeling nostalgic.. feeling like an old pioneer man of net porn but on previous threads when i felt oldschoolest there was a surprising number of ppl who were legitimately olderschool than me... I'm bored.. come out of the woodworks and call me a newb.. but have proof please or i'll newb-supercede you and that's as bad as a man who gets drunk and wakes up with a tramp stamp in the small of his back i tell ya!

baddog 12-26-2009 04:35 PM

Well, I remember meeting you at Aimee Sweet's birthday party many years ago. But I don't know if you had started before me or not.

Loch 12-26-2009 04:35 PM

2000 for me, not really oldschool but i guess i would be considered a veteran in online porn

billywatson 12-26-2009 04:35 PM

I got excited when The Adult Buffet gave me a #2 listing...for free.

I got really excited when The Hun top listed me...for free.

I submitted everyday to Sex Hungry Joe's, Persian Kitty, and Gregpix.

That old school enough?

baddog 12-26-2009 04:38 PM

I don't recall Adult Buffet charging for listings. Did they evolve to that? Man, used to love getting two top 10 listings a day with them.

Can you say massive traffic?

quiet 12-26-2009 04:41 PM

1996, adult check and pornopass avs's were my beginning.

candyflip 12-26-2009 04:42 PM

I went to a show in 1999 and it was on from that point for me.

kmanrox 12-26-2009 04:42 PM

forgot to add my story;

Ooops... Me: Summer if *1996*.. let's say *July* i had my first porn site hosted on my AOL homepage, it got listed in Persian Kitty and it was banned/deleted a few minutes later... i just like PK's power of communication is why i got into it.. not cuz i loved porn (which i did, but honestly it had no bearing on why i chose this industry.. if i thought i could make cnn.com and have millions of ppl read my thoughts i'd have done that just as well).. i honestly... teenage naively didnt even fathom this could be a way to make money... i was so naive that i thought the 'sponsor' banners on PK's site were like a sign of distinction like a pro ball player gets endorsements! I actually hotlinked some of her banners and link code just to have a look like my site was good enough to get a corporate sponsorship!) Yep I said it....

quiet 12-26-2009 04:44 PM

hey baddog, didn't you at one time work for or partner with an avs or a tgp guy? like way back, around 2000-2001? i seem to remember some posts on eric (sobegirls) old board from way back. maybe i'm out to lunch...

harvey 12-26-2009 04:44 PM

end of 1997 here. Not sure how to prove it nor if I care to do it, lol. I used mostly free hosting (NET TAXI, lol!) back in those days and my first registered domains were http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://pornostars.com.ar and http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://sex-o-pedia.com.ar . Some of the oldies might remember those and the older nettaxi pages :1orglaugh

they did not.. i was his assistant webmaster before staring rawpussy and honestly, i threw up my own galleries in the top 10 slots alot of the time.. amassed like 10k recurring members (they even retained back then!).... you know what the great sales pitch on the galleries was?

>>>>> NEXT

yep.. a total blink link converted like fucking GOLD back them!

Surely Buffet evolved into paid slots as most TGPs eventually did.. i wish i had the insight before selling off rawpussy after i couldnt seem to make more than 5k a month off of it.. and this was still the GOLDEN TRAFFIC days! heh

live and learn or fall by the wayside i guess

TisMe 12-26-2009 04:51 PM

96 here, I still smile remembering Juliet's *POOF* on the old Adult Check boards. I also had sites with Age Check / Cyberage and PornoPass / Netverifier and Richard sending me nasty emails when I screwed something up :)

AC Gold sites were a gold mine.

When I first started out it was with "Mogul." We had a lot of things going on.

We came up with the first auto-submitter for TGP's, then MGP's, had two AVS's I recall (one for static pics, one for vids), then we did the ContentLotto thing.

After six years I called it quits and ended up with goodgirl as a partner.

kmanrox 12-26-2009 04:58 PM

damn you guys talking about AVS's... i shit you not i had a signed contract with ron levi himself to make what would have been only the 3rd or 4th AVS in existence at the time.... it ended up on the backburner and we concentrated on cybererotica..... i could kick myself every time i see one of CyberAge dave's car posts!!!!! haha

I have been on the internet before it was the internet. I started back in the early BBS and telnet days initially. I have been on the 'web' since it's existence. I have been in this industry since May of 1997 after finishing college.

I started with a celebrity site. Then bought some content and feeds and did a few foot fetish pay sites. As well as the other learning things of the day. I have dabbled in just about everything at one time or another.

I worked 18 hours days. The full time gig in telco, then came home and endlessly worked on my sites. A lot of trial and error. I went into this full time 6-7 years ago and started the production company.

:2 cents:

Far-L 12-26-2009 05:01 PM

When people still used 14k modems and went to BBS like "TheGeneral". Our first domain was "monsveneris.com" which I think we owned in like 95 or so. Prehistory for sure.

Before we parted ways he had said he wanted to get out of adult for religious [I suspect family though] reasons. I agreed to manage all the adult operations and he handled software development and the mainstream side of things.

When I called it quits I guess he had no reason to keep the adult side going and it just kind of went away. I don't think I have talked to him since the day I said I was leaving.

I'm not 100% sure when I started, my first website was about the game Diablo 1, turn quickly into an adult site, it was also possible to buy .cc domains paid monthly.

I was either 16 or 17 when I made my first website for a client that got featured in a newspaper because it had auto starting background music ( non adult )

baddog 12-26-2009 05:18 PM

300 baud was my first modem also. Upgraded to a 1200 baud.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 12-26-2009 05:21 PM

My first paysite (Exotic Amy) went live in early 2000, although I was a contributing member to a BBS called Burn This Flag since 1993.

In 2001, I launched my second solo site (Jenna Joy), and in early 2003, I launched Asian Diva Girls. I currently own and operate (or have under development) six Asian niche paysites.

Great times :)

Apparently, according to the stats of my fatfoo nickname, I've been registered at GFY since March 2003. Long time.

I think by now some people can predict my brain.

xpics and amateurpages was my first start

AaronM 12-26-2009 05:50 PM

Ran an adult BBS starting in 1993....Pretty sure it was 93...Been a few years.

Vjo 12-26-2009 05:53 PM

Ya got me a bit K-Man so no challenge here. :)

- Oct 1996, Bought my domain sqvirtual, set up shop and learned basic html and built a little site just messing around. Problem was I didn't know diddly about making any money.

- Oct 31, 1997, I stumble on that first board (YNot?) and seen Fantasyman and a few jousting for position.

Aaah to go to that night again.

I still remember how well Pink Bits sold. Damn that sold easy in them days.

Pink Bits
Intergal
Serge Cash
CE Cash

These 4 come to mind as being there, on that board, ready for your traffic that night. :) A few more came soon after but not too many others at the very beginning.

Note: 2 were Aussie too. :)

Occurs to me everyone back then was named *man too. :)

Just to let you all pour a tear: do you remember xpics 0.20 cents per click? Oh my, I'd kill for just the 0.1% of that nowadays!

Yeah big Kudos for pointing them out. They may have been there. Amateur Hardcore was and also maybe one of the very first sponsors. Xpics may have not quite been running on Oct 31, 1997 is my gut feeling but maybe they were.

another oldie: do you remember Mads? He was the original owner of Worldsex, he "img src'd" every fucking trade to grow when nobody knew about img src, grew Worldsex to a mega site, sold it and supposedly retired to be a Congressman in Holland. Anyone knows what happened with that?

Very few people we doing adult BBS's especially compared to what the Internet is now.

Even fewer were shooting their own content as I was. Most of them were stealing their content from McHenry and such.

I think it was unique, not raw, but they allowed blind clicks (which I found out when they were finishing that campaign so couldn't get on board with that)

Did anyone make good money from running these bbs things?

I always see posts about people saying they ran them but I only ever saw ads for them in the back of some magazines when I was a kid

Being a porn affill has its "seasons" for sponsors. They all seem, at the time, like they will go on forever.. :)

And the Worldsex thing rings a bell.. a very faint bell..

The secret was to work in the 90's (anything worked!) and read the boards in the early 2000's even up to now as lots of good stuff on boards. BUT, in those days we all were (seeking the answer on boards) which was traffic.

A simple link list tended in those days like PK, a couple trades, and you were In Like Flynt.

But the boards were facinating in those days. :)

But Kudos Harvey you are old school for sure. :thumbsup

Sorry to hear about Intergal. As everyone knows they were very good to me.

Depends on what you consider "good money." I was making low 6 figures at 19.

CashGordon 12-26-2009 06:48 PM

I have started by 1996 with adult check sites and than IBill. I was like their 200th customer or so, RIP. It all started with a supermodel and hentai site.
