Keep in mind the internet is only in its infancy. Most people in the world still don't have access to it yet.

The email part is defo off, however don't forget the average person has more than 1 email account, I personally have 3 that I check and combined I get more than 100 spam emails per day. 1 I cut off recently was getting 300 spam emails per day, I had it since 2002. While the initial figure is high, I'm willing to bet somewhere around 60-70% of that is the real number.

Between business and personal, I probably run through 60 emails a day.
