I have friends who work in gov and who will be recommending my business, (nothing illegal) they just do not offer the service I can and send gov contracts away constantly...as there is no one else in this state who offers the service :) My family member who is working for the state literally turned away 4 contracts 2 weeks ago. I couldnt believe it, so I am starting the business immediately and going after the contracts. |
my mom is an auditor for the dept of defense. all she does is audit gov't contractors. she's in iraq right now making shit tons of loot. if you are serious, email me and I can put you in contact with her. my brother and I were thinking about doing the same thing.

The contracts are there, and they are being turned away. next time the office gets an inquiry regarding this type of business they will be sent to me, and as said, I am the only one in the state offering this service so the contracts will all be mine. I didnt come up with the idea though, I was probing the mind of my family member over holiday for business ideas and he brought up a certain service he wishes was offered, since he turns away so much business of this type. I said, that I could have that service up and ready in a week LOL Its actually not far from what we do already. I am very excited, this is new fronteir for me. |
Fletch, if you are a white male may I suggest you form an LLC that has a female (your wife) as majority owner.

Perks? |
I used to work for a company that all they did was go after Govt. contracts, so if you are going to get into that game I suggest hiring someone that knows the ins and outs of writing up your bid or you'll likely never beat out these companies that its all they do and Good luck with it! :pimp

The contracts are literally being turned away at the state level because the state doesnt know who to send this type of web-related business to :) It will be word of mouth recommendations of my company for basically all the contracts of this nature. :) |

On the flip side, bidding tends to be very easy thanks to the freedom of information act.. |
sent you a msg... .
if anything happens, i need some back scratching (and not a $400 hammer) |

i like your way of thinking. |

Plus, once you've established yourself in that sector, work from overpaying orgs in that sector will keep rolling in at a steady pace. Once you get the NGOs and lobby groups as well, it's all gravy. |

I am having someone from the state review the service, web site, etc... and will look it over before the business goes live so I am both eager and nervous as this is the beginning of something bigger than ive done before! It pays to have family work for the state. |

Also, you should familiarize yourself with FAR and DFAR. They will be the 'terms and conditions' governing your relationship with the Government (if you are working on Federal contracts). Hey, good luck with it! Keep your business straight and you may be moving towards a new, extremely profitable life! :) |

With the coming of my daughter 1 month ago, this is all I am thinking about. :thumbsup |

You won't get a single contract.
Why would the Government hire you when they can hire multi million dollar companies to do work for them? and 2 - You don't have contacts with the right people in congress.. senators etc. All contracts go to their buddies. That's how it all works. |

A friend of mine about two years ago started doing all the networking and tech support for a medium size city (city has about 60K residents). Getting the contract wasn't easy, but once he got in, did a good job and made them happy they suggested him to another city and he starting on that one within the next few weeks. It is easy money and good money, but you really have to know the right people.

Our gov did not pay people, but people pay our gov and feed them. :D

or you can just stick to doing $5 banners
