**AirCanada** Voted Best Airline In North America ! - Whats your favorite airline ??

Readers of Global Traveler, a U.S.-based magazine aimed at business travellers, have named Air Canada the best airline in North America, followed by American Airlines in second place and Delta in third.

Singapore Airlines the best airline in the world. British Airways was voted best for business class and Emirates the best for first class, while Lufthansa was rated the top transatlantic airline.

Seoul Incheon was named best airport in the world and Chicago O'Hare International No. 1 in North America. Denver International Airport was best for airport dining.

Personally im not a great lover of Air Canada.....my choice would be Air France and KLM !!

Whats your favorite airline/airport and why ?

WiredGuy 12-29-2009 02:49 PM

I call bullshit. AC is crap. AA is even worse. And Delta? Wow. I hope those were the only 3 choices because every one of those airlines I'd avoid.

You know a few years ago i would'nt have agreed with this but i think they have got considerably better. I would probably say my favorite is westjet but air canuckastan is a close second.

HighSociety 12-29-2009 02:55 PM

Not a fan of Continental...love Jet Blue!

Jman 12-29-2009 03:01 PM

Air Jamaica all the way Mon!!!

Flashcash-Andy 12-29-2009 03:08 PM

I like Southwest for flying in the US. Not to glamorous, but they are fast, cheap and efficient...and they don't charge you for bags.

The Sultan Of Smut 12-29-2009 03:24 PM

Air Canada used to totally suck and was nothing compared to West Jet but I just flew back from Calgary a couple days ago and the customer service was uncharacteristically pleasant and the leg room was killer! I didn't really care about the headrest TV and USB/power connections but they were a nice surprise too.

I'm a big Continental fan! They are one of the last good airlines left imo...

Total bunk, WestJet is notably better than Air Canada.

AirAsia :thumbsup

starpimps 12-29-2009 03:51 PM

delayed 4+ hours on a 1 hour fight due to air canada's inability to get their heads out of their asses.

I am too and will be even more once all the planes are fitted with the new direct TV in every seat. :pimp

GAMMA303 12-29-2009 03:54 PM

Southwest. Easy on, Easy off. No bullshit just get me to my destination for a good price.

bbobby86 12-29-2009 03:55 PM

Fly fly...

The Heron 12-29-2009 03:57 PM

I don't see much difference between the major airlines, tiny cost differences (baggage, snacks, etc) but overall pretty much the same. I'd complain about leg room but mostly depends on the plane and configuration.
Took Spirit air to jamaica and they were worst for legroom but might have been only that plane so can't say but will avoid them in the future anyways.
I will say that singapore is great but also thai-air I have had similar service.

Nikki_Licks 12-29-2009 03:58 PM

1988 420 SEL Mercedes or our Jeep.

That is how we travel. I have no time or patience for shitty service and bad attitudes :2 cents:

Air Canada has fully flat seats and great business class. I flew them from Tokyo and was impressed. Booked first across the Atlantic with Lufthansa next year and it is supposed to be great.

tehHinjew 12-29-2009 04:44 PM

i love porter flights to and from toronto

Ive only travelled with them on a few internal coast to coast canadian flights but they seems ok for thier prices in my view.

Air Canada on the other hand charged me for a fortune for a full priced ticket to Miami and then had the nerve to charge me for a burger...blanket and other shit and to make it worse a delay comming back meant a night in the airport with this comment " if your heading for europe you can have a free hotel room but if your heading for Canada we class that as the same country as USA ..so you get f***k all !! " :Oh crap

The answer to this question is no doubt very much influenced by where one lives and what airlines heavily serve the main airports in your area. When I used to live near Newark airport in NJ back in the 90's I used to mainly fly Continental and I liked it just fine. But I have not flown them in ages and now I prefer Southwest. Not only fast, cheap and efficient for most of the destinations I go to from Fort Lauderdale, but they also have a simple program. For every sixteen one ways trips or eight round trips completed of any distance, you earn a free domestic round trip flight.

HandballJim 12-29-2009 11:14 PM

any airline that offers one of those personal TV's

I second this call. AC is one of the worst airlines on the planet and I could see this being written by a Canadian reviewer who is looking for favors and free miles. Not only does AC have some of the worst seats, food, and some of the bitchiest flight attendants (who mostly act like their shit doesn't stink) around, they are also one of the most overpriced airlines in the world. At least the reviewer got the international first class right - Emirates. Not only do they have competitive prices for this class of travel, their service is exceptional. Transatlantic - Lufthansa - I can accept that, especially since I have only flown first class with them as well. My memory of a Frankfurt - Calgary direct flight: Pyjamas, only me in the class, an immaculate dinner, and warm chocolate chip cookies and milk before crashing out.

Best airport - that is a tough one. I am impartial to HK and the Cathay Pacific lounges. BKK's international outbound is fine as well, with some great shopping, awesome lounges, and tons of dining choices. :)

Cheaper ????

Ive never found air canada to be cheap ?

fatfoo 01-01-2010 02:27 AM

AirCanada is good. :)

Spankys Teens 01-01-2010 02:51 AM

You want real service, fly El AL.
They really know how to service people well, just too bad that the great service stops at the gate.

KLM aint that bad either.

JetBlue (local cheapo) has a pretty good service as well.
allthough last time I flew with them, we were delayed because the flight crew got stuck in traffic :)

Cheaper??? There are many things I would label Air Canada, but cheap or cheaper is not one of them. Even before the insane Canadian taxes, their base fares are insane.

My favorites right now are Jet Blue and Southwest. Wish Jet Blue flew out of Detroit.

Worst is Spirit. Unless you buy the big leather seats, its the most uncomfortable flights ever. Leg room by far the stingiest.

Fob 01-01-2010 04:31 AM

Porter Airlines all the way. AC is just as crappy as the other North American airlines, and usually more expensive too.
