To shave it or not to shave it?

Well here's something I've been faced with for a few years now. My hair (on my head) is pretty thin. I've had it shaved for most of this year but just grew it back. In order to keep it looking decent I have to use some special cover up products to keep it from looking thin.

The shaved head has been great. No paying for haircuts, styling products, hair cover up stuff etc. Not to mention the saved time.

Now that I've spent months growing it back and just dropped another couple hundred on hair products including my cover up fibres, I'm debating shaving it again.

Trying to decide if having a sexy mane of hair is worth all the hassles that come with it?

Shave it

NetHorse 12-31-2009 04:37 AM

I'd shave it, but if you have a weird shaped lumpy head maybe not. My little brother has been losing his hair and I used to rag on him, not because he's losing his hair but because he looked like a clown trying to cover it up. He shaved his head and it's way better now IMO.

TheDA 12-31-2009 04:43 AM

I started going thin so started cutting it shorter and shorter until I decided to shave it all of completely.

I was blessed with a reasonably good shaped head (even if I do say so myself) so it doesn't look bad.

The girlfriends don't seem to mind the bald look at all - the wife loves it :)

themadwriter 12-31-2009 05:00 AM

shave it!!!

AlCapone 12-31-2009 05:08 AM

burn it off

KILL_FRENZY 12-31-2009 05:44 AM

Shaving it is the decent way to go. Just don't cry for it afterwards.

Luckily my head is perfectly shaped for a shaved head. My dad rags on me to hell about the whole covering it up thing (not fair that my 61 year old dad has a full head of hair ).

The shaved head looks pretty decent on me as well. The hair these days is just not presentable at all without spending a fortune on microfibres and the like.

Would love to have some of the ladies of GFY's opinion :winkwink:

Sucks being 23 and having to worry about this so much :Oh crap

My primary concern is that, say I meet the woman of my dreams (with hair), then it gets to the point that I can't cover it up anymore, and I *have* to shave it and she doesn't like that look, well that would totally suck.

The way I see it, women wear makeup to make themselves look better so I think it's fair game that I can do the same... I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth trying to keep up this charade period.

I've had it shaved from January to mid Sept, I just grew it back but thinking if it's worth the hassles (time and money) spent trying to keep up "the look" when I can just continue shaving it and be done with it...

This sexy mane sure comes at a hefty price :Oh crap

Chicks dig bald heads

CaptainHowdy 12-31-2009 07:37 AM

Don't do it! You'll feel naked...

L-Pink 12-31-2009 07:40 AM

Shave it but leave a long rat-tail.

Be a real man and shave it... I shave mine because of the greyish colour apearing all over my head :Oh crap

Iron Fist 12-31-2009 08:13 AM

I love the baldies who get sunburn on their heads in the summertime... it's quite comical.

Gray hair on men is "distinguishing", you should let it grow.

heymatty 12-31-2009 11:20 AM

Pubic transplant ftw.

it takes a lot less time to color your hair once a month or whatever than to shave it i bet

i have no idea, how often do people have to color their hair? i'm gonna need that, grey hair looks good on George Clooney and that's because - he's George Clooney.

Mutt 12-31-2009 11:33 AM

oops! ......

I did have long hair in my younger days but because I keep my hair shaved now, if I let it grow back I look like a porcupine it sticks up all over the place. Its just easier to have it all shaved off

My older brother uses hair colour and he has long hair. It looks terrible because he dyes it a jet black but each to ones own :)

DudeRick 12-31-2009 04:18 PM

Same rule as pussies, If its smooth, shave it. If it's lumpy wear a hat!

CYF 12-31-2009 08:56 PM

shave it, or get those implants with your real hair.

Jakez 12-31-2009 09:09 PM

If you can pull off the shaved head look then why the hell would you go through all that trouble and money just to look stupid trying to hide something?

seriously, go bald. You're not a scrawny guy so you can pull it off. Your head looks nicer shaved with hairy. Go for it!

MarcyM25 01-06-2010 08:21 AM

Shave it!!!!

Go and have it shave. :)

Trixxxia 01-06-2010 08:32 AM

In your case, shaved or 'very very short' makes you look better than with hair IMHO
Picture # 4 suits you best

HerPimp 01-06-2010 08:38 AM

Shave it until you can afford a hair transplant.

Denny 01-06-2010 08:48 AM

Shave it :winkwink:

sebrosen 01-06-2010 09:18 AM

Definitely shave it

Jman 01-06-2010 09:22 AM

Cut the whole damn thing...... right above the shoulders ;-)

Definitely shave it!!!

ShellyCrash 01-06-2010 09:26 AM

After seeing pics I would say shave it. You can tell you have more confidence with it cut close and it's a better look on you as well. Confidence = sexy.

Use clippers though. I think keeping it tight works well, but I wouldn't go bic bald. :2 cents:

Choopa Phil 01-06-2010 09:34 AM

i look better with ur head shaved IMO. I had the same hair thinning u got going on (24, EFF YOU GENETICSSSS) It sucks, but i honestly refuse to blow money on rogaine, or any of that other stuff to get your hair to grow. I save like 600 a year in hair cuts and i dont have to get up 15 minutes earlier to do my hair now.

happygirl101 01-06-2010 09:42 AM

woman's prespective.....shaved/bald head looks more nicer...But that's me

Sid70 01-06-2010 10:37 AM

in this case shave it

http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/a...90_778593a.jpg

actually shave it any case, you look mafioso kind with shaved hair.

Wasn't planning on going bic bald, #1 with the clippers about every 4 days works for me.

Thanks for your input Shelly!

I hear ya, no bed head, no hair cuts, no time and money spent maintaining it. I'm starting to miss those days, but looking at the feedback received from this thread I may be heading back there pretty soon. About $300 spent on hair products including haircuts over the past two months alone. :Oh crap
