I want a change in 2010. Relocation advice in the USA

I am bored off my ass right now in middle America. What state(s) and or cities do most American porn companies setup shop?

and does anyone think emailing my resume to every large program would yield any results? The couple programs I tried to contact seem to be too big for general webmasters.

I am 100% confident in my skill set and work ethic to get a good job in this industry, but I'm not sure if the jobs are out there anymore, or if everything is outsourced. Thoughts?

LA and Miami are 1 and 2. You want a great long shot -- Phoenix AZ.

assuming the you're proficient in all the areas listed in your sig you're looking at a 30-40K salary in this industry even when times were better. you'd be better off putting your brain to work on your own stuff.

That is actually an abbreviated list of my skills. I could be an asset in just about any program.

The problem with 'my own stuff' is waiting for it to grow and be profitable. Short term, I need a steady paycheck, and long term I can focus on my own stuff.

A couple of good years with the right company could be profitable for everyone. Doesn't seem too promising with all the threads on here begging for work though.

I will say that there is WAY more competition in mainstream. A board I used to frequent would have 100 people fighting for gigs, and it seems there's only a few truly qualified people on this board and a WHOLE LOT of pretenders, and that goes for those offering services and our potential clients.

you can only live in the getto on that salary...keep this as a side job/hobby and take some civil service exams.

Email me your ICQ, Jack. I have a question for you. :)

I think if you reach out enough you will find placement somewhere. It's a little tougher landing a gig you have to relocate for but as long as you aren't looking for the company to pick up the tab on the reloaction you should be ok.

Putting together a web portfolio with some examples of your work would speak volumes about your skill set to potential employers. That would be my first reccomendation.

Jack OAT, please shoot me your resume ([email protected]) and some projects you have worked on. I'm in North Carolina and by looking at your sig those are things I could use you for daily, as I have free sites, tubes, paysites and own a couple design companies. I don't have enough time in the day to do the 100's of personal projects I have started :)

You sound like a top notch bloke.

If I had a program or whatever and needed someone for work, I'd pick you. It may not rival a $60k paycheck per year but yeah, stuff and words.

Agent 488 01-01-2010 09:08 AM

why you want to move josh?

woj 01-01-2010 10:10 AM

easiest to probably just post your resume/portfolio, etc here...

Los Angeles is the porn capital. But, who wants to live there?

You would make more money freelancing, 98% of companies out there are cheap fucks, I wont mention any names, but I have a friend who is a senior web developer and company offered him less than 30k which is a joke.

I certainly wouldnt work for anyone fulltime for the rates they pay.

If I could nail down a few dependable clients I would agree. All I seem to find are the wannabes.

Jack OAT 01-01-2010 04:27 PM
