super cheap vegas rooms for shows 20-25 bucks

leaving cali now and headed to LV just booked and got these budget strip hotels to hop around on for the next 2 weeks:

palace station - $19/night (hotwire)
stratosphere -$24/night
hooters -$25/night

only caveat is palace station has a $15/night resort fee but includes free strip shuttle svc. see yall there, if anyone needs an extra bed to crash on holler icq 23777418

Farang 01-03-2010 02:10 AM

and I'm paying $100 / night here in Thailand... USA economy must be in deep shit for sure :Oh crap

bufferover 01-03-2010 02:36 AM

Sounds really cheap for a place like Vegas

Waddymelon 01-03-2010 03:28 AM

Those rooms are that cheap for a reason. Pretty shitty, old rooms.

greg80 01-03-2010 03:47 AM

stratosphere is not bad, but you need to take upgrade to the room (just few bucks) and you get a remodeled room (almost new)

also I stayed in their jacuzzi room, it's great

beta-tester 01-03-2010 03:51 AM

I stayed at Circus Circus 2 weeks ago and the rooms were pretty good for the price I paid, which was around 150 bucks for 5 nights.

So yeah, rooms are not that expensive in Vegas.

strat is great i stayed their for almost an entire month this time last year but their room prices for showtime now are jacked up way beyond the 21 bucks a night i used to get it for. also being at the tail end of the strip is a bit of a pain. and you may die when traveling by foot the 3 blocks dead zone from strat to sahara, that is no mans land

fuzebox 01-03-2010 09:14 AM

I've got fond memories of the Palace Station, shot a lot of content there... It's a good cheap hotel with a great staff.

Hooters is a fun party hotel, I love how the casino floor feels like being in a hooters rather than being in a casino.

NickB. 01-03-2010 09:14 AM

crazy prices... thats like a jack and coke at the show hotel lol

Mutt 01-03-2010 09:18 AM

i didn't think a 20 dollar motel/hotel room even existed anywhere - even shitty cock roach ridden motels in the middle of nowhere charged 40 bucks at least i thought.

LOL...I live here in Vegas and don't even walk that part of the strip...Unless I want some crack, shemales, low grade hookers, or to be messed with by the cops..LOL other than that it's a pretty nice part of the strip...LOL

L-Pink 01-03-2010 09:19 AM

Rooms at The Golden Nugget are only 40 bucks .....

I went to a sports handicapping convention at the Palace Station 5 years ago and only paid $20 a night. It was pretty much like staying in a Holiday Inn with a casino, so it really wasn't that bad. There was a Starbucks at the bottom floor right by the elevator so that was convenient at least. You should try and book through them directly, as I have never heard of anyone charging a "resort fee" before...

Zorgman 01-03-2010 09:31 AM

When I went to vegas and stayed at paris hotel in 2004, it was $380 a night.

I got ripped!

$380. ? Is that for an "all inclusive" room? Blow and hookers included?

That was for the lowest room on their list with a view of the back card park.
Didn't use the apart from sleep so I don't mind as much, it was a great trip.

UnUnited 01-03-2010 12:19 PM

The cheap rooms in Vegas are typically only during the week from Sunday to Thursday night.
If you can stay off the strip I always recommend the Silverton Casino or South Point Casino, The rooms are clean and at a very affordable rate. About 5 miles south on Las Vegas Blvd (south point) and 5 Miles south on the 15 (silverton) .

If you want to stay closer to the strip The Orleans is also very reasonable and rooms are fine.

The stuff on and around Fremont street is cheap but a little older, If you don't mind an old school TV and out dated furniture it works fine for a place to crash.

Sometimes it pays to book on Expedia.com before hand so you can get a conformation code with the rate that was given to you online, It's not uncommon for a hotel to suddenly adjust the price higher when your trying to book at the counter.

$20 - 25 a night. That is very cheap. I am wondering what hours and how many hours is considered a night? Or is it one day - 24 hours?

These are casinos, Mutt. Even the low rent casinos can afford to offer very inexpensive rooms, since they make a killing off of people gambling, even the locals with nickel slots. I personally like to stay at a place I can walk to the show every day even if it was a little more than dirt cheap.

MaDalton 01-03-2010 04:26 PM

i once stayed downtown at the El Cortez for $29 a night - a life changing experience...

dirtymind 01-03-2010 04:41 PM

well i have never seen those prices before but then again i always stayed in mgm or ceasar and mirage etc.

good fee but too far away.

Vegas is hurting. Wonder how the hookers are charging.

The Duck 01-04-2010 11:38 AM

Really? That is cheap. Post pics of what the rooms look like when you can.

It's like any other hotel... Check in at 3 usually, checkout at noon. These aren't hourly hotels. :thumbsup

Palace Station does indeed charge a resort fee, and if the site you book through doesn't charge it they will charge it when you check in.

It does include wireless internet though.

That article from the Wall Street Journal hit the nail on the head:

Quote:

An entertainer at Rick's Las Vegas club who uses the stage name Buffy says many customers are spending a set amount of cash rather than running tabs on their credit cards. Now 34, she says she is earning only 25% of what she got before the recession. "It's not quite the elite crowd that used to come in," she says.
It's a great time if you have some cash. The strippers are experiencing $200 nights and are appreciative of what you can give them. If you drop $300 in the club you're now a high roller. Before the recession, you had to drop $1000 before anyone cared about you.

As for the hookers, there are quite a few hot ones charging $200/hour. If you see the $100 special, expect an upsell.

I always rent a car, so it's no problem for me. Stratospere really is great value for money. When booking, go direct to their website and choose packages. You have some great upgrade packages there for very little money.
