I really suck at bowling, but I have all my friends come and we have a great time. Thsi weekend I got my best score of 137. I know thats pathetic but I wanted to know if there were any other bowlers on GFY?

Mine is probably somewhere around there. If I break 100 I'm happy. I pretty much suck too. I rock on the Wii though!!

SykkBoy 01-04-2010 09:07 AM

I bowl on Monday nights and my average is 201 so far this year...I'm usually a mid190s bowler, but having a great year after a couple minor adjustments.

My best ever was a choke game...I shot 293....11 strikes in a row and then I fucking choked and got a 3 on the last ball...I also have 5 279s and have shot twelve in a row 3 times (all across 2 games)

Spudman 01-04-2010 09:10 AM

me and my friends play drinking bowling, you drink the number of pins standing up after your go, so 3 pins standing you drink 3 fingers of your pint. awesome fun but gets you wasted :)

i played well the other day about got around 156 i think

PastorSinAlot 01-04-2010 09:15 AM

I bowl every Sunday at KeyStone Lanes in Norwalk, CA
My Avg is 162 highest game 279

NetHorse 01-04-2010 09:17 AM

140s, my buddy bowled a 300 a few weeks ago, then I used him as a bowling bowl.

beerptrol 01-04-2010 09:22 AM

I bowl around 215 on Wii

kmanrox 01-04-2010 09:32 AM

i think mine was 200-210... think being the key word.

junction 01-04-2010 09:47 AM

I haven't bowled in years. But 276 was my best score.

Ripper - RiotDesign 01-04-2010 09:54 AM

I have the worst score of the history hehehehehe :winkwink:

candyflip 01-04-2010 10:00 AM

269 when I was 11.

I bowl maybe once a year now and I generally manage to avg about 200.

Scott McD 01-04-2010 10:00 AM

I hate when i choke on the last shot. But i always seem to do it. Pisses me off!

Hardcore J 01-04-2010 10:12 AM

This one time, I got a 500 while bowling.

Czech 01-04-2010 10:17 AM

Mine is 199 I was so pissed off that I did not reach 200 :)

fatfoo 01-04-2010 11:40 AM

137... I wish my IQ was this high.

Oh...

AmeliaG 01-04-2010 11:44 AM

I've enjoyed bowling since I was like 16, but I lived in Europe when I was 16, so I've always played drinking bowling i.e. I'm not terribly good, but I have fun. We should bowl some time, Alex, when you are in Cali.

Jdoughs 01-04-2010 11:50 AM

I am a 255 average bowler (5 pin) and have been bowling for about 30 years. My father has a few records in Canada for Perfect Games, and most Perfect Games in certain provinces (yeah fucker has bowled more then a couple).

When we had 10 pin machines at the alley (my parents used to run one) I was about a 205-210 bowler, but never really enjoyed 10 pin, it's just to easy of a game compaired to 5 pin. (commence the hating)

PastorSinAlot 01-04-2010 11:50 AM

if you score over 300 in one game, that means handicap not a straight up game

RebelR 01-04-2010 11:57 AM

back in highschool we used to go midnight bowling Saturday nights. Best I did was a 262. Now I feel good to break 140 or so.

Party pooper.

Non-wii(so called "real" bowling) would be around 210 when i was 11 or 12. I suck now and am pretty happy when I break 150.

Quagmire 01-04-2010 12:16 PM

I was a 178 average bowler when I used to bowl in leagues years ago, and my best score was a 296. hurray for choking in the last frame.

I'm more proud of my two 7-10 splits that i've managed to get though. heh

Tom_PM 01-04-2010 12:18 PM

I dunno it's been too long, but one of my bro's has multiple 300's. There's a youtube video of him collecting money from someone after he finishes out a 300 game lol.

bloggerz 01-04-2010 12:26 PM

nice to see there are some bowlers here on gfy!

back in the days i use to bowl for my highschool i did a few 290+ during the whole 4 yrs of school. never a 300 :(

my 4 yr highschool average was 202

now 15 yrs later, currently in my leauge i am averaging 178 (definitely has to do with my bad finger that keeps getting worse through the years of bowling) oh well!

goldfish 01-04-2010 12:38 PM

I have never actually bowled, however, my Silver Strike high score is 234, and my wii bowling high score is 178. They are building a new bowling alley here this yr I can't wait to try the real thing!

Lace 01-04-2010 12:47 PM

I haven't been bowling in years and the last time I went, I was quite intoxicated since they had a bar there for the 'rock-n-bowl' late night bowling event. I don't think I did much better then 150ish then and surely wouldn't do much better now.

Next time I come out we should find a really oldschool bowling place and go...

Adraco 01-04-2010 01:01 PM

I'm one of many World Record Holders in Bowling. 300, the perfect series. It's always fun to mention over a drink that I'm a world record holder, it's not all that fun admitting in the next sentence that it is also the worlds most common record, shared by thousands. But oh well, always fun to be a world record holder! :)

Depending on level of intoxication, I tend to end up on a normal game in the low 200 series and rarely go over 250 if drinking is involved.

V_RocKs 01-04-2010 01:10 PM

New bowlers are the best bowlers.

I use to bowl with the sling-two-fingers-only method... Bowled around 160 with it. Then a friend wanted me to join his team and he suggested I bowl "the correct way" while on his team.

My average tanked to 80. This game me a shitload of pins... I ended with a 156 average. You could bowl a perfect game as a 200 bowler and I would still beat you with a mediocre game.

Now I bowl around 170. Best game was 230-something. Don't remember the last digit.

undersoul 01-04-2010 01:23 PM

hmm with bumpers up or down? LOL

pornguy 01-04-2010 02:06 PM

I used to average about 210 to 230 or so.. highest was like 260

What's your dad's name? Not that I don't believe you, but I'd be curious to know if I know him.

I've thrown 6 400 games, the highest being 423 when I was 14. 10 in a row, missed to the right (32), chopped the 53.

Today, I can't stand the sight of a bowling alley. And yes, 5 pin is WAY more difficult than 10 pin.

Fat Panda 01-04-2010 04:21 PM

way over 300

PornMD 01-04-2010 04:27 PM

I bowled in scratch leagues for about 3 years. I was a 210 avg bowler (or at least got up to about that high - was generally 200-205) and have bowled 290 twice (my high game), picked up 7-10 split once but no 300. Also, an 800 series ("series" in bowling = 3 games) is the other milestone that people go for and is a lot harder than a 300 game, and I've mustered 793 but not an 800 :(.

I will say that given 290 is bowling a spare then 11 strikes and after one of those 290s I started the next game off with 5 strikes, I HAVE bowled 16 strikes in a row across 2 games, but couldn't run a streak like that in 1 game. I have no idea how many 279s I've bowled...probably 15 or so. 279s are the devil. In probably half of those, the missed strike came somewhere in frame 3-5 and based on how I was bowling, I knew the score would end up a 279 because I knew I wouldn't miss again.

Our leagues had some damn good bowlers...I know at least one finished a league at over 240 avg before, one has bowled an 889 series and I've seen a few 1100+ 4-game series', have seen 2 300s in a series at least a few times, a bunch of 7-10 pickups, etc. Fun stuff.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 01-04-2010 04:28 PM

I bowl 300 every time

nice
my high 3-game series is 753 and my high 4-game series is 1001

I only have 3 700s but a shitload of 675-690s, usually those were a crap first game (in comparison to the series)....

oddly enough I think I've only broke 250 once this year....it's been a really consistent year though...a ton of 190-210s to keep the average in the low deuces....

Consistency is good...it's nice to have breakout nights but better for doing well in the league to be consistent. The time I had that 793 I finished with a 230 something game for a 4-game series in the 1020s, which was the only time I ever broke 1000 for a 4-game series. Was sad though - that was one lone night in what was a crappy showing for me - I think I may have finished that league at 200 or 201 and in general the last year I bowled, I was consistently below my average with a few good nights here and there. The next league was my last and I finished around 198 and quit bowling after that because I had stopped enjoying it. I'd probably do well again now that I weigh about 65 lbs less than I did then and don't have knee issues anymore.

The good thing with scratch leagues is the nice money prize for winning if you can manage to win the league. I once was on a winning team - we were 1st seeded going into the playoffs so we only had to bowl 1 game, which ended up being against the 2nd seeded team which had the best bowler in the league who had bowled 6 300s during that one league alone. I pulled a 279 out of my ass to help us win...here I was the low avg on the team by about 10 pins, 30 pins below their hotshot bowler and I bowled the best of anyone...that was a good night! It was a summer league so a shorter one, but I think the cash prize paid for the bowling plus another $400 or $500 or so.

CYF 01-04-2010 07:20 PM

My highest ever was around 190. My average game ends up around 130-160.

Matt 26z 01-04-2010 09:57 PM

135, and that score dates back to PE class in 8th grade. My school had a bowling alley in the basement.

I'm more of a skee-ball player. High score on that is 810,000.

scratch leagues are a blast...that higher competition can push you harder....I've bowled a few leagues that were mainly comprised of scratch bowlers, one where the handicap percentage was 90 of 250. Big money leagues and they were more fun.

Tonight was pretty typical of my season 189-195-215, a few sticks under my average for the night, but nothing terrible - a couple bad breaks and a missed 10 pin...enough for us to take 3 of 4....

jerryb 01-05-2010 03:45 AM

I haven't bowled in about 25 years. Had a 182 average in 2-3 leagues in the early 80's. My best game was in a tournament in Muskegon, Michigan where they just installed some new synthetic lanes. Started off with 8 strikes and ended up with a 286. Never ever had a run like that again. Best is 3-5 strikes in a row during a 3 game period.

Bowled with a guy that also golfed and he was the worst of the worst. I used to kid him that his bowling score (82) and his golf score (136) were somehow telling him something. :evil-laug:evil-laug:evil-laug
