BCS Championship: Texas or Alabama - Who Do You Pick?

http://media.mlive.com/sportsnow_imp...deab_large.jpg

The BCS Championship is tonight, featuring the #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide versus the #2 ranked Texas Longhorns.

Both teams bring perfect 13-0 records into the game.

The oddsmakers are leaning towards Alabama by 4 points.

Who do you pick?

I have to go with Alabama based upon how they dismantled Florida in the SEC Championship, whereas Texas barely held off Nebraska in the Big 12 title game.

SEC is king. Bama takes it eve though the true national title game already happened in Atlanta with 1vs2.

Anyways, fuck the queers from Texass ad the Gumps from Bama and GO GATORS!!!

I never thought of Mack Brown as a great coach. For years and years, he would win every game he was supposed to win and lose EVERY game against anyone ranked higher or within a few spots of him. He'd finish 10-2, 9-3 and the Longhorn nation would "look forward to next year." Then, he went and won the National Championship in one of the greatest games ever played with Vince Yong as his QB so WTF do I know. I still don't think Mack Brown is a GREAT coach. I just think Vince Young had one of the greatest games ever played that particular day.

Now, Nick Saban has proven himself a great coach everywhere he's been. Everywhere. Michigan State, Toledo, LSU and now Bama. (yes, I know, there's the Dolphins but that was pro ball so I don't count that :-) )

Anyway, I don't really care who wins. I'm just hoping for a great game. But, I'll go ahead and pick the Tide by 11.

MikesTraffic 01-07-2010 11:05 AM

I'm an auburn fan so I was born to hate Alabama, but I'm keeping it in the SEC on this one....The SEC is about to have their 4th national championship in a row and we will be the only conference ever to do that.......I think there is a reason the SEC schools make more money, in general perform better, and sign 20 year deals with ESPN.....there is also a reason why the SEC answers to their second name "God's gift to college football"

don't have a preference...if I had to pick a team it would be Texas, I really just want to see a great game...

cwd 01-07-2010 11:39 AM

hoping for a good game with Texas coming out on top....although if I see McConaughey on the sidelines I may switch to Bama...

stever 01-07-2010 12:00 PM

PersianKitty 01-07-2010 12:06 PM

I was born in Birmingham... who do you think I want to win?

Roll Tide!

bushwacker 01-07-2010 01:11 PM

Take texas and the points, you can thank me tomorrow.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 03:43 PM

How about undefeated #6 Boise State beating undefeated #4 TCU the other day?

Would like to see them play the winner of tonight's game, but as it stands, they should finish #2 or #3 in the end of year rankings.

Boise State will be bringing back almost all of their starters next year too...

Bama will look like a strong NFL team as they roll right over Texas. I hope it's not a blowout, from a fan's perspective, but I think they will take them harder than they took talentless Tebum

trevesty 01-07-2010 04:00 PM

I'm a Sooner fan through-and-through, but I'm taking 'Bama on this one. I don't think Texas has the ability to play power football like 'Bama does.. and 'Bama does it extremely well.

smax 01-07-2010 04:09 PM

17-13 Texas

A little Public Service Announcement prior to kick-off (btw, it's 4:20 on the Left Coast):

ADG

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 06:30 PM

Okay, it's almost time for kick-off and GFY has it Alabama 12 votes, Texas 4 votes.

We'll see...

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 06:59 PM

WTF was Alabama thinking in their first drive - no gain, penalty, sack, incomplete pass, 4th and 23 from deep in their own territory...a fake fucking punt pass intercepted?!?

They were lucky to hold Texas to a field goal (also Texas QB Colt McCoy was knocked out of the game; return questionable. A Freshman QB is in for Texas): Texas 3-0.

Ensuing kick-off, a fumble. Texas recovers... :helpme

ADG

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 07:10 PM

Minus Colt McCoy, who took a big shot in the back/shoulder, the Longhorns score a second field goal: Texas 6, Bama 0

Bama flounders again in the face of am aggressive Texas defense... :Oh crap

Lot of time to go! :)

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 07:20 PM

Alabama seems to have settled down on offense, and the Tide is on the roll.

Heisman Trophy winner RB Mark Ingram is getting his carries now and making the most of them.

End of 1st Quarter Score: Texas 6, Alabama 0

But Alabama is knocking on the door... :)

Colt McCoy being out isn't helping them.

I have Bama -5.5

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 07:24 PM

Ingram goes untouched into the end zone.

Alabama takes the lead: 7-6

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 07:28 PM

The Texas freshman QB (Gary Gilbert) who is substituting for injured QB Colt McCoy just took a big shot and appears dinged up as well.

This is turning into a war of attrition...

Alabama just scored on a 49-yard run by a Freshman speedster RB Richardson.

Score: Alabama 14, Texas 6

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 08:10 PM

Alabama scores again with 3 seconds left in the half via another interception of the Texas Freshman QB (the interception was made by the same 300 pound guy, Darrius, that knocked McCoy out of the game).

Score at Halftime: Alabama 24, Texas 6

Stats for the Texas replacement QB Gilbert: 1 of 10 passing, for -4 yards, and 2 interceptions (one for a TD).

This game is starting to look like a rout...

Roll Tide!

Never had you pegged as a Southern Belle (I lived in Kentucky for a few years - it sucks being a short back-up High School point guard on a basketball team that sent their 6' 5" starting point guard to the NBA)... :bowdown

I know you live near my birthplace of Seattle now (even though I mostly grew up in Hawaii).

Texas showed some signs of offensive life in their first drive of the second half (even though it has been announced that Colt McCoy will NOT be back), but Alabama stepped up their defense and now have the ball again...

ADG

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 09:12 PM

Well, Gilbert finally hit Shipley for Texas, so the score is:

Alabama 24, Texas 13

Onside kick, and Texas gets the ball back - signs of life...

ADG

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 09:30 PM

Okay, the game is getting downright sloppy and boring now - Texas is inept, and Alabama is sitting on it's lead...

If nothing changes, Boise State should emerge as the National Champion (although I doubt that this will happen).

Born in Birmingham.. raised in parts of Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and then the Seattle area. My dad was career military. Both my parents went to U of Alabama B'ham.

The Longhorns definitely made it an interesting second half. Alabama must have been too confident coming out of halftime. Great bunch of stories will come out of this game. The senior QB getting hurt, the freshman QB stepping in and finding his rhythm in the second half, and the winning team also having the year's Heisman Trophy winner (you think Ingram will go for the NFL or stick around and try to be only the second player in history to win the Heisman twice?)

SRT8 01-07-2010 10:30 PM

fml why i didnt listen to my instincts! o well go bama texas played a hell of a game till the end without their starting qb. hope some people made some easy money... was this a boneprone lock cause it should have been.

seeric 01-07-2010 10:35 PM

bama saved my progressive parlay.

got boned on the oregon game for one game of 7, picked 6 right thanks to bama.

wheew, i was scared for a minute watching that momentum that texas had before CM got hurt.

SRT8 01-07-2010 10:38 PM

it could of been a lot closer than it was after ht texas had the momentum going their way gilbert made some nice throws and was on a roll till the defense stepped up finally and got some turnovers in the 4th qtr.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-07-2010 11:04 PM

Okay, so Texas mounted a respectable charge in the second half, but the Bama defense finally overwhelmed Texas, so the Crimson Tide rolled on to an impressive 37-21 victory...and will be recognized as the National Champions.

I do believe that Ingram will be back for at least one more of his two years of college eligibility (although many NFL teams would be happy to snap him up should he come out early).

Too bad for Colt McCoy, he deserved a chance to show everyone his stuff in his biggest game ever, but an early injury ended any chance of that (I expect we will see more of him on Sunday's to come).

And what about Grey McElroy...he has never lost a game as Quarterback, either in his High School or College career. Very impressive!!!

Congratz to Bama... :thumbsup

cosis 01-07-2010 11:19 PM

It was an okay game To bad of the injury to McCoy for Texas they probably had a good shot of making it close. They also made some dumb coaching decisions........should have run the clock out before halftime with a freshmen QB playing.

they would have won had he not gone down. i would have lost my bet, but hey would have won, there is a very very good chance of that. that poor backup QB did damn good for being so green. you could really see the rookie in him though. reading his body language was just so telling. and that hit that kid took on that fumble, he never saw him coming. snapped his neck straight back. that experience was invaluable to him though, and i am really impressed with what he did even though he had like 490 interceptions and a fumble. he'll be a very good qb in a few years.
