Certified hosting terror
What happens there?
http://certifiedhosting.com/hosting/ They hold me as hostage!!! Sudenly my hosting account almost killed their server!!!! (they said). And they ask me to pay for a dedicated or an holding account in higher price than the dedicated. I talk for a wordpress blog making no more than 1K daily until yesterday!!! I contacted them and they DO NOT UNBLOCK my account until i pay the money they request. Hey boys, what are we doing here? Working for the hosting companies? |
Well that sucks wind
|
That is a clear blackmarket. What are they? Our pimps?
|
Thats scary because I have a few domains hosted there. I might have to look into moving when the renewal comes up/
|
I will pay 75 USD for 15 days a holding account in order to move to another host.
By the way, is there anyone having server overloading issues with wp-cron.php ? or other WP php pages? They said that tried to restart the account but the server went to red because of some WP php processes. I can't believe it. Sorry. |
I have a hosting plan with them too. In 2009 they had a memory/resources status bar who disappeared in 2010. Do you think it could have a connection with your problem, the fact they do not see their customers to see resources status?
|
Never hosted with them before..Glad to see this as I won't be using them anytime in the future..lol

Tha fact making me upset is that in 2008 the site was doing 4-5K daily without any problem. It was fast enough to add some add-on domains in 2009 with 100-200 daily. In 2009 the total amount of traffic went down to 2 K daily max because i didn't spent time on this. Note that all are WP blogs. |
see my sig :)

What plugins are you using on the sites? And what WP version are you on?
Read the "High load" entries relating to wp-cron getting called too often, in this forum; http://wordpress.org/tags/wp-cron and see if you can pick out a fix This thread also details cache calls being a bit of an issue for some people so you might wanna give that a try; http://wordpress.org/support/topic/52452 Your hosting company are clearly a bunch of cocks, too often they advise upgrade rather than solve... I hate that |
Really interesting. Thanks
|
I've actually heard of a few people with the same issue... high server loads, suspended accounts and dedicated server suggestions.
Did they give you any advance warning or just suspend the sites? |
I was one of the people who experienced issues that suckerpunch knows about. I installed wp super cache on the blogs that I have, and my highest resource usage with certified is my email... my outlook checks it every 5 mins.
So, my suggestion? wp super cache. |
No they didn't send anything as warning. Just "switch off".
I will install super cache and i 'll move to another host. |
When you are ready for a dedicated server and an adult-friendly network over 15 years in business, then hit me up directly about Caro.Net !

When income is tight your trying to get the biggest bang for your buck so you take the risks. I have been in similar situations, seems like hosting companies do not give a shit that every second the site is down is a lost sale and traffic.
I have had good luck with isprime and amerinoc. |

I've found some of the newer "cloud" (I hate that term) solutions like VPS servers offer decent performance for under $100/mo and with companies that offer that type of service you typically don't have all the bullshit.
A blog with 1k uniques definitely shouldn't be taking up any significant resources. |
That's not good, you should find another host.
|
Wordpress can be a bitch.. but still they should have warned you I guess

Nevermind, I am aware of your account and issues.
Since we do not discuss client issues on boards, I will only say this. You were warned and you know you were warned. This is also not your first account or first time this has been an issue with your account. |

The CPU & RAM resources are custom builds of ours. Those are default by cpanel. Most hosts do not have these available for clients to see. During the last cpanel upgrade some of the changes forced issues with our custom mods. You should be seeing those available again here real soon. |

Answer to Kacy.
1st. The specific account never had any issue in the past. 2nd. Yes i tryied to run a tube site , hosted in separeted account , which was a "black hole" for resourses. Six months ago i left the specific domain in the corner to be cleaned of links and SE traffic. 3rd. A few days ago, when i added the specific domain as add-on in the existing account everything gone to ruins. How ? Obviously your alarm for a " black sheep" turned to red. You said in your e-mails that the specific ex-tube domain is not anymore accepted into your servers. But it was a WP blog with almost zero traffic when i added it on. 4th. You never sent a warning. There was not time ? OK . The same happened with the my attempt to run the tube six months ago. in one moment it was "off". There was not time to send a warning? " Hey you, you are near the limit". And the most important for you and the other hosting companies. Stop saying "unlimited". Just say " You get what exactly you pay". Clear bussiness make good friends. |
Kostas :)

Still, even if your limits would near quickly, you would expect an automated messages saying so. It should not matter how fast you are nearing it or not. There is obviously something wrong if you didnt get a message. First you could send a ticket number, then he shits all over you in public and now all the sudden you can deal with it privately so your business can "grow". This smells bad, I think you should run like hell. And let's be honest, there are many more "unlimited" hosting providers for a decent price. |
I started on shared hosting with Certified/Naked, had well over 1,000 uniques a day and eventually only moved up to dedicated because I wanted more control and the free script installs that come with dedicated hosting.
I've never, ever had a problem with Certified/Naked. In fact, they bend over backwards to make sure I am happy. They treated me as a VIP when I was shared and still do now that I am on dedicated. Of course, I read their TOS before I signed up and because of that, I never violated them. I recommend that more people READ what they are signing up for before they sign up. Just about every hosting company uses the "unlimited" marketing (companies have to if they want to compete) and EVERYONE knows that unlimited is not truly unlimited...it's been that way for years now. The argument of "unlimited is not unlimited" is wearing thin. It is unlimited for 95% of hosting customers since most websites receive very little traffic. Again, if you simply read a companies TOS before forking over your credit card information, you'd know this. Can anyone name a single hosting company where it is truly, absolutely 100% unlimited for less than $10 a month? I didn't think so. Can anyone name a hosting company that advertises unlimited shared hosting account? Most of them... |
Plus, the important thing to remember is that it is truly unlimited as long as you do not go over the alloted CPU.
If you can find out a way to push a TB on 2% CPU utilization, the companies probably won't shut you down. However, when you want to pay $10/mo. and utilize 80% CPU because of shitty scripts, expect to run into problems. Hosting companies pushing "unlimited" never say unlimited CPU resources. They mean transfer, space, etc. |
Their website main page says, "Are you a dork, geek or nerd?"
I am not familiar with these classifications. I am not sure what the difference between them is. Looks like they are trying to disrespect their customers. What an often happening thing with companies nowadays. |
Kostas, give me a call. Would be happy to help you out with a plan that works for you.
We make everything clear and simple so there are no misunderstandings! No contract either! |

Your name servers are only associated with 132 other domains. I thought that it took tens or hundreds of thousands of domains to justify having your own fiber optic network? How does that work? Are you the actual owner of that huge hosting company? BTW, I am getting this from your http://getinspace.com/about.html Quote:
