Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan. Can you FUBAR a classic any more than this?

In Columbia Pictures? The Karate Kid, 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could?ve been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother?s (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying - and the feeling is mutual - but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre?s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts ?the karate kid? on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.

Actually looks somewhat ok, might even be good, Jackie Chan looked like he fit into the role well. The only thing they fucked up on was making it about a kid thats about 10 years old. Watching 40lb kids fight seems pretty stupid to me. BTW is there any movie that one of Will Smith's kids isn't in?

yeah same here, i'm sure Jackie Chan will make this movie "ok" but they did fuck up about making this movie about a 10-12yo kid, they should have stick with the 16-17 age range and then it could have been way way better.

I noticed that the kids skin color is wrong. Kind of a big thing to miss for the entire crew/staff don'tcha think?

Agreed :thumbsup Thats Jackie for you, always bringing in a little humour to all his films. Its not obvious humour like a comedy but it shall have a little light hearted fun.




@ the thread, It looks pretty good & no, it doesn't matter the nationality. Work hard & train non stop for a year & you would be fantastic at stretching & speed, body mind & spirit.

The original ones had comedy similar to that if you remember. The whole belt from Jcpenny's thing. Mr Miagy honking the nose of the guy at the end. Etc. Trailer looks really good. Wil watch this one for sure.
