Damn bless his little heart! Shit like this makes me feel so so sad.. and it makes me so much happier that I have two strong healthy kids and it makes me aware of how close I could be to losing it all.

Yes but, but many rumors have it that the USA already has their eyes on Cuba AND Haiti to be the next Puerto Rico.

They would not be helping if there was not a long term goal where they were going to profit off the back end. Be it the US development of Haiti or be it that we know there is oil there (or another natural resource) or maybe we just want to claim another island.

Africa is full of horrible things happening and you don't see this amount of aid pouring into Africa do you? Aid is limited and we hardly even show it on the news when genocide, drought or famine is happening there. No one cares about some of the African countries because there is NOTHING there we can profit from. Nothing to benefit from. No military advantage.

I was surprised that Bush turned down Cuba?s request to send an army of physicians and nurses to help the victims of Katrina. Ok, I understand that they may defect to the US. However, we did accept their offer to allow use of their airspace to get to Haiti.

The most touching aid to the US was after 9/11 when the Maasai people of Kenya offered 14 heads of cattle to help the victims of 9/11. It does not sound like much in our society but that?s huge for them. The story is told in a children?s book, 14 Cows for America.

this brings back memories of the northridge quake which is nothing in damage compared to what's going on in Haiti. Truly heartbreaking and I hope there is a silver lining somewhere for these poor people.

Here is the sad part about helping those kids, they are almost going to all grow up to live in misery. It's the 1 or 2 that will go on to do something worth while that makes them all worth saving.
