How to avoid email blacklists?
Hi,
I use amember for my user management software. I send out bulk emails using there software. I keep getting blacklisted. How can I avoid this? Thanks |

Isn't the only solution to not send out spammy emails?
As I understand it, with the larger web providers, if so many people hit spam/junk then they blacklist you. They probably report this to others as well. It could also be that the IP address or host you email from is already blacklisted (perhaps because of a previous user). |
amember - that's a funny name.

1) Do all the email best practise things you can - set up reverse DNS, SPF, etc
2) Make sure your mailer is can-spam compliant - proper opt out process, full physical address etc 3) Only send to double opt in email addresses That's it. |
Sending bulk emails from any domain is now problematic. I have a 2 year old site I wanted to send just 20K emails out to wish people happy xmas etc, and nearly all the free accounts bounced it.
I tried a paid service and after 3 rejections out of 20K they stopped sending my mails. WTF? All the email addresses I was sending to were the ones people signed up with, nothing dodgy at all. It stinks. |
good luck... it's a huge pain in the ass...

Was the email multi-part? Was the HTML pure HTML or did it have text too? Did the text have any sketchy wording in it? etc etc If you want me to look at the email you sent and come up with ideas to help your delivery, let me know. |
