God damned FLVs won't play in MPC
I don't want a god damned fucking new player
I KNOW there is a way to play FLVs in MPC I use to download a codec, Or I think with FLV player installed MPC would be able to play them (the decoder must have been bundled with it) Where do I get it at??? Not FLV player, I tried that |
Do yourself a favor, download VLC, it plays any format and owns mpc like crazy

Gom player
http://www.gomlab.com/ runs circles around MPC, pals around with VLC on the weekends with their model girlfriends and volunteers at the homeless shelters at least once a month. Loves it's momma... |
Interesting. I can't play FLV on my software. I need patch or codec or something.

mplayer is also a fantastic player... plays virtually everything

Here ya go..
From free-codecs.com do this in order: 1st - K-Lite Mega Codec - Install all but do not install MPC (will prob make you uninstall MPC during codec installation) - Install this Codec pack first - all default settings installation 2nd - K-Lite Mega Codec Update - install this second - all default settings installation but do not install MPC yet. This also has an option to take back all default files from WMP 11 if it has stold your defaults as it tends to do. It esp likes to keep taking back .avis no matter what you have set. This is the only way to get them back that I know of. 3rd - K-Lite Codec Pack - Install MPC 6.4.8.4 ONLY - (this is the best version imo if you have the orig install file - or you can just install the latest version which might be ok, but whatever you install just install the player only in this third step) MPC will now play virtually any file incl .flv And I'm with you, MPC is simply the best mainly because there are so many shortcuts and play controls that can be set up plus it is fast to load and low on resources. Cheers :thumbsup |
Also, save this file: mplayerc.ini as it will be needed so you don't have to reset all those fabulous shortcuts.
MPC does not play HD such as .mkv files as far as I know. I'm guessing VLC prob does. :) The thing about VLC, altho it plays more files, it doesnt have much in terms of shortcuts for play control like up 5 sec, back 5 secs, slow, frame advance ect. For HD I usually use Nero which plays about everything but which is so clunky an interface. Not sure if VLC will play HD and .mkv as I havent reinstalled it since I had to reformat. (boot sector became f'd up from a browser hijacker, at least I think that caused it, anyhow suddenly couldn't boot, no matter what I tried) (reminder: get "bootvis" now) :) A guy told me that would have booted me up.. |
